Meet our new head coach - Coach Kevan Valenzuela!
Kevan is from the Imperial Valley, California. Kevan started coaching in May 2010 for Imperial Valley Desert Aquatic (IVDA) for whom he swam with throughout high school. Kevan was Head Site Coach at IVDA Holtville satellite program. During the summer Kevan has run Summer Recreation Swim Programs in Calipatria, CA (2012 & 2013) and Holtville, Can (2014). During the summer of 2014, Kevan acted as Interim Head Coach for IVDA. During the summer of 2016 Kevan ran the Willow Creek Wahoos summer league team.
Coach Kevan currently coaches with Denver Swim Academy and was recently peer voted to be the Age group Coaches of the Year. This honor was shared with three coaches that coach the age group program for the 21-22 season(s) at DSA.
Kevan holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from CU. He has a strong passion for swimming and believes in technique and high effort as the platforms for long term success. He also believes summer swimming should be fun! He has coached all levels of swimming from swim lessons to Jr. National Qualifiers. Several swimmers each season are ranked in top 50 in the nation for stroke/distance. He is very excited to be part of the Heat and looks forward to meeting everyone!
