Ahmed Abdelaal Scarlet Aquatics: BMS Division
Mohamed Abdelaal Scarlet Aquatics: BMS Division

Coach Mohamed started coaching as an assistant with the Bayonne Mermaids and Starfish during the summers from 2004 until 2007.  Late 2007 Mohamed Abdelaal became the head coach of the program and in 2010 Ahmed Abdelaal joined him in leadership the program would never look back.  BMS swim team has seen tremendous improvements in all aspects.  Under Ahmed and Mohamed’s leadership BMS nearly doubled its membership, its athlete performance, and participation rate.

In 4 short years, coach Mohamed and his brother head coach Ahmed took a team with no state championship qualifiers to most recently the Boys team finishing 7th at the Speedo Eastern Zone Sectionals Championships.  There were many other team achievements along the way.  The team experienced their first individual to qualify for nationals, first individual state champion, many sectional meet, zone meet, and Junior Olympic qualifiers.

In 2010 Coach Mohamed took on a new challenge in the world of Division 1 coaching.  Mohamed was named the head coach at Saint Peter’s College and experienced success immediately.  During his 1st season, Coach Mohamed tutored Lovro Bilonic and helped him set a conference record in the 100 yards breaststroke (52.99) and become the 1st MAAC swimmer to qualify to the Men’s NCAA championships.  Under Mohamed’s guidance, Lovre would go on to rank in the top 25 in the world in the 100 Breaststroke and become the fastest Croatian to ever swim the event in a textile suit.

Coach Mohamed is a firm believer in commitment and work ethic as the building blocks to any success in life.  Mohamed loves swimming and loves coaching but most importantly loves helping athletes take pride and ownership of their hard work and become the best they are destined to be.

Mohamed holds a Bachelor of Science in exercise science, health and physical education from Montclair State University.  Mohamed is a member of the American Swim Coaches Association (Level 3) as well as the College Swimming Coaches Association.
