Summer Swim

Jerica Robinson

Hi Everyone.

I am so happy that I have had so much interest in SUMMER SWIM.  We were granted this opportunity for the first time last summer where we were able to partner with Mazo to swim on thier summer team.  Here is the breakdown.

  • Register with Mazo Cudas - you will be apart of this team.  I believe that they use Team unify as well to sign up for meets, working and events ect.
  • We will be holding practice in Lodi 4x per week.  Last year we did M,W, Th, F from 4 - 5 pm.  (I am not sure of the days that we will be practicing yet, recently I have had some changes to my work schedule and I dont know how it will all shake out yet, but plan that we will have practice 4x week - just not sure of the days)
  • You will need to have a current pool pass with Lodi.
  • Mazo does have a WORK REQUIREMENT - I do not know exactly what this is, make sure to read through the expectations
    • With that said - they are GRACIOUSLY accepting us, so please make sure that you are fulfilling any volunteer expectation

Common questions:

  • Will you (Jerica) be at the meets? I will NOT be at the meets - but our very own Blue Wave Coach Ed will be at many of the meets!!
  • Do I need to buy a suit? - A team suit is not required, in the past I have suggested that a plain black suit would work well, or really any suit.  I would suggest buying a cap to wear at the meets
  • Do I need to swim at the meets? Yes!  if you are going to join the team you need to try to swim at least 3 meets.  You do not have to commit to all of them.   In order to be eligible for the conference meet - you must have swam at least 3 meets
  • What if I need to contact a coach?  If it is a practice related question - reach out to Blue wave coaches.  If it is a meet/team related question - reach out to Mazo

I have to tell you.  I LOVE SUMMER SWIM!!!  WAAAAAAAAY more than winter.  The meets are outside.  You arent crammed in a confined pool, meets are generally done by 11:30/12 on Sat morning - which still leave plenty of time for summer fun.

One thing I also like to point out - this summer leauge swims in METER pools.  So if you are looking at your childs time from the winter - compared to the summer - they will likely be slower.  On team unify - under "cool tools"  there is a "time converter"  if you are interested how your child is improving from the winter!

Mazo is offering a spring practice opportunity in Sauk - I believe once you sign up you will get more information on it.

Hopefully this link works - it has been funny lately - if it doesnt - google Mazomainie Barracudas - it will bring up thier home page and you can register from there!

Thanks,

Jerica
