Shelbi Oskolkoff-Campbell, HEAD COACH

Coach Shelbi is an ASCA level 5;2 Coach and a USMS level 3 Coach. She has been the Head Coach of LGSC since November of 2018
Coach Shelbi was born in Anchorage, Alaska, but grew up in South San Francisco. Her dad started teaching her to swim when she was three months old. Shelbi has been a water baby ever since! She started swimming competitively at eight years old and then quit swimming in middle school to try basketball and volleyball. Shelbi was later diagnosed with scoliosis and started swimming again to help strengthen her back, keeping her away from major surgery. Shelbi swam through the beginning of her junior year in college and was a Butterflier and IMer. She had to retire early due to a broken wrist but finished as an All-American for the College of San Mateo 2011 & 2012.
Shelbi’s coaching career started when she was 17. She has coached Competitively for multiple USA Swim teams over the last 12 years including South San Francisco Aquatics Club, Sunnyvale Swimming, Santa Clara Swim Club, and Quicksilver Swimming. She has diverse exposure inside and outside the pool, being a part of so many great teams and bringing that knowledge on deck. She loves coaching Age Groupers and Master Swimmers. She is serving on the 2020 Masters Pac Swim Coaches Committee, a 2020-2021 Masters online workout coach for limited mobility, and is working towards her level 4 Masters Coach. Her goal is to share the same love and passion for swimming. She wants to help swimmers achieve their goals both inside and outside of the water regardless of their age, ability, or talent level by coaching using multiple learning styles. She also loves teaching strokes correctly by going through the proper progressions.
She graduated with a B.A in Humanities from SJSU in 2014 and started her M.A. in Athletic Administration and Coaching. Shelbi has a one-eyed Five-year-old Catahoula dog named Kenai, and they love going to the beach in their free time. She likes to craft and work on cars. She is also a huge Dallas Cowboys and San Jose Sharks fan.

He then went on to University of Hawaii at Manoa before returning home and competing for Los Angeles Pierce College. While at Pierce he began competing again in the 50, 100, 200 Free; 100, 200 Fly; 200 IM; 200, 400, 800 Free Relay, and the 200 and 400 Medley Relays and quality for the CCCAA State Championship in 2019.
Jake began coaching while in high school as a camp counselor and student volunteer for Camp Roadrunner and his club team respectively, teaching younger club swimmers during the summer. During this time Jake learned from his coaches what it means to be a role model and mentor to kids and how to set an example in and out of the pool. He then began to work at the Jonathan Club in Santa Monica, CA as a swim instructor in 2019, working with children as young as a year old to adults. As a coach, he enjoys being able to guide and mentor swimmers to achieve their goals both in and out of the water, whether that be the ability to swim safely or to achieve their goals at the highest levels competitively.
Jake currently lives in Santa Cruz after finishing at UC Santa Cruz with a B.A. in Politics focusing on International Security and Military Policy. In his spare time he likes to surf, cook, and work on his car and motorcycle. He is also a Los Angeles Kings fan, attending both Stanley Cup Championships games in 2012 and 2014.
