Day 1:
Michael Cai led off the Team BC 4 X 200 Free relay in a club record 1:49.94 breaking the old senior record of 1:50.22. Congratulations Michael.
Day 2:
Michael Cai continued his double assault on the competition and the Hyack record board.
Mike won the 50 Breast with a 28.20 and turned around and won the 400IM with a blistering 4:14.58. Both swims shattering the previous club records.
Andre Kudaba qualified 7th and finished 7th in the 200 fly.
Day 3:
Mike Cai continues to be BC's golden goose with his win in the 200 breast. He obliterated the field leading from start to finish in 2:10.24. His third gold is the most of any swimmer so far. This swim resets the club record.
Andre Kudaba won gold in the 50 fly with blistering 24.31. This was a new club record as well.
Vanessa Hanbury anchored the 400 free relay with the fastest split at 56.15. The relay finished 4th.
A very good night for the Hyack Team BC members.
Day 4:
Mike Cai finished the gold sweep claiming his third breaststroke title in the men's 100 in a 1:01.16. This is a new senior club record.
Andre Kudaba in the men's 100 Fly claimed the gold with a spectacular 52.86 shattering the club record as much as he dominated the race.
Finally, Mike and Andre were part of the Team BC men's 200 medley relay that destroyed the field in 1:38.05. Mike split 27.94 and Andre 23.65. The team time beat the National Record.
Final Day:
Michael Cai finished his gold medal haul with two more victories on the final night. On this night, he became the Canada Games most decorated athlete and BCs most successful Canada Games swimmer in history; winning the 200 IM in 1:59.75.
Mike returned later with his record breaking relay teamates from last night and along with Andre dominating Ontario for the gold; Mike split 59.51 on his leg and Andre split 55.30.
In the 50 free, Vanessa Hanbury finished 2nd in the B relay at 26.30 which was a close race between Vanessa and her winning BC teammate.
Michael Cai became the most successful athlete in Canada Games history at PEI. With 5 individual golds he became the highest individual gold medal earner. Along with his 2 relay golds, Cai ties for the most gold medals won at the Canada Games.
Michael Cai named BC Flag Bearer for Canada Games closing ceremonies. Michael was bestowed this honour resulting from his historic swim meet. Michael is the winninest athlete in Canada Games history.
