AA Champs Day 1

We have a total of 11 swimmers here in Penticton. Linda Liu, Sabrina Porreca, Jamie Engman, Danaka Brown, Carrian Leung, Jelena Mitrovic, Amanda Dhaliwal, Rebecca Siemens, Jonathan Zhang, Tom Sun, and Dilip Rathinakumar all qualified for AA’s and are attending this meet.

After a long day of travelling, the 1^st day of racing was relatively well done. There were 21 best times in total. Coming out of the morning session, there was one new AAA qualifier. Linda Liu went a 5:56.42 in the 400 free, which qualifies her for the 10 & under AAA. Carrian, Dilip, Tom, Sabrina, Danaka and Jelena all made it into finals for a second swim. In finals, most of the swimmers managed to maintain their position or move up in ranking. Dilip went a 3:10.22 in the 200 fly, just barely missing his AAA, and came out with a Gold medal. Sabrina was a Bronze medalist with a 3:08.14, which makes her the second new AAA qualifier.

From the relays, the 13-14 girls earned a Bronze medal in the 200 Medley relay.

Hopefully, after tomorrow, there are more AAA qualifiers!

Edit: Sabrina's 3:08.14 in the 200 Fly also happens to be a new Hyack club record! Good job Sabrina!
