AA Champs Final Day

Session 5 was short and fast. After a solid preliminary session, there were 5 alternate swims and 6 final qualifying swims. At the end of finals were the distance events in which Sabrina and Dilip did an excellent job. Sabrina swam a blistering 12:05.60. Dilip earned a Silver medal for his 1500 Free going a 21:58. In finals, first up was the 50 Free. Carrian held on to 9th spot in the girls 13-14 final with a 31.70. Next came Dilip, who ended up 12th in the final. Tom, in the A final of the 12 & under boys final, came out of the 50 Free with a Gold going a 30.57. Next final swim belonged to Jonathan Zhang in the 200 Breast. He went a 3:05.6; a personal best and holding on to his 4th place. Last event was the 200 IM, where Tom and Dilip both had excellent races. Tom won the B final with a 3:00.99. Dilip, after a great 1500, only 30 minutes break after that, AND a 50 free final, managed to come out with a Bronze medal with a 2:57.9.

Overall, Hyack swimmers swam tough through all 6 sessions. Being a travel meet, a total of 11 medals is quite impressive for only 11 swimmers. One new club record was also earned by Sabrina in the 200 Fly (3:08.14). Three new AAA qualifiers (Sabrina, Tom, and Linda) can now attend AAA Championships in Victoria in March. Great job to everyone that went to Penticton !!!
