AA Champs Long Course Day 1
With a smaller group on Friday, Hyack swimmers earn top 8 spots in several finals.
First up was the 200 IM. Angel Yang had qualified first after prelims with a PB of 2:55.2. In finals, she won a decisive victory going 2:50.8. It was a tight race until the freestyle where she pulled ahead. Terence Ho and Jonathan Zhang also swam the 200 IM coming 6th and 8th respectively.
Next Hyack swimmer up was Emily Williams in the 50 Free. In that event, she broke 30 seconds for the first time long course, going 29.63, earning her a gold medal.
Then came the 200 Flyers. Danaka Brown swam a blistering 3:00.35, beating the 2nd place spot by 5 seconds. She also qualifies for her first 12 & under AAA time in the 200 Fly. She has the opportunity to race at BC AAA Championships in a couple of weeks in Kamloops. Also in the 200 Fly was Dilip Rathinakumar. He was awarded the Silver medal after a tough race of 3:07.03.
Emily Williams was up again for the 100 Back. It was a tight race for the first half but she managed to pull ahead going 1:13.11, giving her the Gold medal; the 4th Hyack gold of the night and the 5th medal overall.
Relays came after and the swimmers swam quite well.
