AA Champs Long Course Day 3

Final day of racing proved to be just as good as the first two days. 200 Free was up first and Nicole Cheng swam a great race; she moved from 8th to 6th and had an excellent race to the finish. Continuing with the momentum, Angel Yang took the 200 free in the next heat and ran with it. She managed to move up 1 placing to 7th and also got her PB. Carrian Leung was up next in the 13 year old category and was just out-touched for a 3rd place finish, finishing 4th with a PB of 2:33.18. The last Hyack girl to race was Emily Williams. She continued with her winning streak and took home the gold in the 200 Free with a time of 2:20.98. In the boys category, Terence Ho raced to a 5th place finish with a PB of 2:27.28.

The 100 Breast proved to carry on a traditional of excellent Hyack breastrokers. In the 12 year old category, Angel Yang, Jamie Engman, and Cassie Wang took home the 1st, 2nd, and 4th place finishes respectively. Angel held on to her 1st place spot from prelims, Jamie moved up 3 spots and Cassie held on to her spot for the finish. Carrian Leung was up in the 13 year old category and came to a good 5th place finish with a PB of 1:32.29. The boys were not to be outdone, with Jonathan Zhang racing to a 4th place finish and a PB. Tony Piccolo also had a valiant effort and raced within inches of a 7th place finish.

Emily Williams was up once again on the podium after a great 200 Back. She won by more than 3 seconds and added to her already plentiful gold collection. Aleks Mezentsev was up next for the boys and swam his first AA individual final with a PB of 3:08.57 and a 7th place finish.

Last event of the evening was the 400 IM. Angela Siemens swam a best time and took home a bronze for her efforts.

Overall, the meet was a good meet for almost all the swimmers with a barrage of new personal bests and also a sizable medal count. Excellent job to all swimmers who attended and hopefully the experience at AA's can be carried over to other meets.
