AA Championships Day 1
After a solid morning session, the afternoon was even better.
In the morning session, Danaka Brown and Dilip Rathinakumar both swam the 200 Fly to AAA times; Dilip squeezed by with .01 of a second to a AAA qualifying time. These were the first 2 of 4 new AAA qualifiers !! Tabby Shirbani had a solid 800 Free and earned herself a 3rd place finish in the event.
First off in the finals was Emily Williams in the 200 IM, earning herself a silver medal. Lukas Slotman swam well and got to a 4th place finish also in the 200 IM. Chris Chiu with a huge personal best and a gold medal to boot in the 200 IM. Rounding off the 200 IM's, was Justin Kiedrzyn and Howard Chen who came 2nd and 4th respectively.
In the 50 Free, Carrian Leung swam to a 8th place finish in the event. Next up, Emily Williams won the 50 Free and got her 2nd medal of the night. For the boys, Howard Chen swam well enough to earn a silver medal, while Justin Kiedrzyn earned a 6th place berth in the same event.
The third AAA qualifying time came when Sabrina got gold in the 200 fly. Also earning a gold, was Danaka Brown in the 200 Fly; bettering her morning time. Tabby Shirbani raced to a bronze finish in the 200 Fly as well. For the boys, Dilip raced well and won gold in the 200 Fly.
Linda Liu, who's only 10, qualified for her AAA time in the 100 Back, tying for the silver medal as well; the only 10 year old in the field. Emily Williams was up for a third time for finals and swam to a 4th place finish in the 100 Back. Lukas Slotman swam to an 8th place finish in the 100 Back. Up again, Chris Chiu just got on the podium with a bronze in the 100 Back. Justin Kiedrzyn and Howard Chen were 1st and 2nd respectively in the 100 Back.
For the relays, Jamie Engman, Amanda Dhaliwal, Carrian Leung, and Danaka Brown raced to a 7th place finish. Howard Chen, Tony Piccolo, Chris Chiu, and Justin Kiedrzyn got a bronze for their efforts.
