Hyack Finishes 12th Overall

Mark Bottrill

On the strength of four final swims Hyack held onto 12th place at the National Championships. Sherry won her 4th gold of the meet in 400 free and Sara Whelan just missed a medal by 2/10th as she finished 4th in the 200 IM. Stefan settled for 7th in the 200 IM and Wendy Yang added to her medal total with a silver in the 50 fly where she also broke the club record at 29.34.
Best times from heats went to Justin, Inder, Chris B, Chris Polok, Chun Sing, May Li.
The hard hat went to Sara for the big effort in the IM.
The meet was long hard and hot and our swimmers needed to be tough to compete across 10 sessions. After winning at our provincial level this is a strong step forward on the national scene. Competition is tight when 1600 swimmers converge on two pools and everyone is at their best. Well done Hyack and a great season.
