PERFORMANCE (LTAD Train to Win/Train to Compete)

  • Primarily for swimmers aged 14 – 18+ that are committed and hard working. Stroke refinement and race strategies are emphasized.
  • Develop leadership, discipline and commitment to the sport. Train following an individual medley (“IM”) based program
  • Compete within Calgary and throughout Alberta with travel and training opportunities outside the province
  • Opportunities to compete internationally

Training Schedule:

  • Monday thru Thursday:  4:00 - 5:30 pm MNP Centre
  • Friday:                            2:30 - 4:00 pm MNP Centre
  • Wednesday and Friday: 6:00 - 7:30 am MNP Centre
  • Saturday:                        7:30 - 9:30 am MNP Centre
  • Additional Saturday "doubles": 2 - 4pm
  • Dryland, Strength Training, Tues/Thurs/Sat

SENIOR (LTAD Train to Compete/Train to Train)

  • Primarily for top age group swimmers aged 12 - 15+ that are committed and hard working. Swimmers experience more challenging practices, building their endurance.
  • Develop leadership, discipline and commitment to the sport. Train following an IM based program
  • Mental preparation for races taught and race skills are refined
  • Compete within Calgary and throughout Alberta with travel and training opportunities outside the province

  • Monday & Wednesday:   5:30 - 6:45 pm Swim MNP Centre, 7:00 - 7:30 pm Dryland
  • Tuesday & Thursday:      5:30 - 7:00 am MNP Centre
  • Friday:                             3:15 - 4:00 Dryland, 4 - 5:30 pm Swim MNP Centre
  • Saturday:                         6 - 7:30 am
  • Additional Saturday "doubles" 2 - 4pm, Dryland, Classroom Sessions

INTERMEDIATE  (LTAD Train to Train)

  • Primarily for A/B level swimmers aged 10 – 13. Swimmers experience challenging practices, targeting heart rate and intensity levels.
  • Coaching strategies include helping swimmers understand both the physical and mental aspects of the sport. Goal setting and race strategies are emphasized.
  • Learn to be technically efficient swimmers. Train following an IM based program
  • Compete within Calgary and throughout Alberta

  • Monday & Wednesday: 6:00 - 6:30 pm Dryland, 6:45 - 8:00 pm Swim MNP Centre
  • Friday:                           5:00 - 5:30 pm Dryland, 5:45 - 7:00 pm Swim MNP Centre
  • Saturday:                       6:00 - 7:30 am Swim MNP Centre        

JUNIOR 2  (LTAD Train to Train/Learn to Train)

  • Primarily for swimmers aged 12 and under who have a learned the basics of the various swimming strokes and wish to improve their skills with the goal of transitioning to competition. Swimmers learn about the pace clock, develop race strategies and set goals. Pool etiquette is introduced to the practice.
  • Develop strong foundation in competitive strokes
  • Compete in local meets with limited travel outside of Calgary.

  • Jr1/Jr2 Alternating Saturdays:  6:00 - 7:30 am Swim MNP Centre

JUNIOR 1 (LTAD Learn to Train/Fundamentals)

  • Primarily for swimmers aged 12 and under who have a learned the basics of the various swimming strokes and wish to improve their skills with the goal of transitioning to competition. Swimmers learn about the pace clock, develop race strategies and set goals. Pool etiquette is introduced to the practice.
  • Develop strong foundation in competitive strokes
  • Compete in local meets with limited travel outside of Calgary.

SPROCKETS (LTAD Fundamentals)

Primarily for swimmers aged 10 and under who have a learned the basics of the various swimming strokes and wish to improve their skills with the goal of transitioning to competition. Swimmers learn about the pace clock, develop race strategies and set goals. Pool etiquette is introduced to the practice. Swimmers race in the Southern Alberta Fundamentals Circuit program. This is an introductory meet series that introduces swimmers to competitive swimming.

There are 3 levels within the Sprocket Program.

  • Sprocket 1 - minimum requirement is the ability to swim one length 25m. This group primarily focus on free, back skills but also introduces breaststroke and fly components. Ages 5-8
  • Sprocket 2 - these swimmers will learn all four competitive strokes and related skills. Ages 6-9
  • Sprocket 3 - these swimmers work on building endurance and improving stroke mechanics as they prepare to move up to the Junior Group. Ages 7-10
