THE COACHES REPORT!!
Ontario Youth Junior Championship
The OYJC was an action packed 4 days in at the Markham Pan Am Pool. The 17 LAC athletes who competed represented themselves and the London Aquatic Club very well. It was a long weekend for those who competed all 4 days but the athletes continued to use their mental and physical fitness to race to the best of their abilities. The improvement percentage, for the group, was a very respectable 55%! And a special shout-out to Renee Hart and Connor Maloney who were 4/4 (100%)! LAC finished strong with 4 finals on Sunday night, fighting to 4 gold medals! It was evident Sunday evening that having a lane in the final gives you shot at winning the final!
Congratulations to Connor Maloney who improved his ranking in the LAC Open Top 10 in the 100 BR.
Congratulations to the LAC medalists: Isabelle Burton (G-400IM, G-200IM, S-200FL, B-800FR, B-200BR), Jackson Cooke (G-400IM, G-200IM, G-200BK, B-800FR, B-200FL), Renee Hart (S-100FL), David Maar (S-100BR), Connor Maloney (G-100BR, G-200BR), and Declan Nolan (G-200BK).

The swimmers gained valuable travelling and competition experience, especially those who recently qualified for the Championship.

DR PAUL HAUCH SWIM MEET – Jul 15-16
Coming up shortly in July is our last home meet, the Paul Hauch Invitational. It is a fun meet to continue to have some great racing and celebrate another great season of swimming. Let’s continue the tradition of bringing the fun factor with bell heats. This means that at determined heats throughout the day, we will ring a bell and the winner of that heat will win a prize. The way we get these prizes is through family donations. We are hopeful that most families will be able to donate a few prizes to motivate the swimmers. The more prizes we get ... the more happy kids we will have at the end of the day. If you wish to donate any prizes to our final meet of the season, please give them to your swimmer’s coach at any time. We are looking forward to another great meet and lots of fun at Paul Hauch!

IT’S OFFICIAL
Dr. Paul Hauch Invitational – July 15 and 16 - Canada Games Aquatic Centre:
Minor Officials (Inspectors of Turns and Timers) and support roles: Sign-ups will be posted on the LAC webpage the week of July 3.
Senior Officials: I still need lots of senior officials. I would really prefer to have the Senior Officials pretty much settled before we open the minor official sign-ups so if you have plans to help, or are even just willing, but only if needed, could you please let me know via an email with “Hauch” in the subject We have morning 13 & Over Preliminaries, afternoon 12 & Under Timed Finals, and evening Finals both days. If you are interested, please email me (with Hauch in the email subject), the name of the person(s) who will be working, the sessions that they are available to work and the positions that they are interested in working. All of the senior roles, except Heat Marshal and Timing System Operator, require the clinic, for that job, to have been taken by the volunteer.
Clinics: As mentioned last week I have had some people ask if there will be more clinics this season. The answer is, not typically, this late in the season. BUT, if there is enough interest in a particular clinic, and the people are actually going to do the job, not just get a session credit for attending a clinic, then I might offer a couple more clinics to support Hauch.
Meet Managers for 2023/24: I am already starting to think about next season’s meets and after getting the meets that we are hosting and their dates, the next concern is who will be the Meet Managers. We can’t run a meet without a meet manager! If you are interested, email me with “Meet Management” in the subject and I will get you added to a meet. Thank you to those who have already responded. You are on my list.
If you have any officiating questions please contact me, Mark Lukings, L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at [email protected] Note: This is volunteer work for me, so I may not get back to you immediately but, if urgent, I can handle a reminder.

Our club has a long-standing policy regarding volunteer participation in our hosted swim meets, which includes the earning of mandatory session credits through working at our hosted swim meets. The session credit policy can be found on the LAC website under the "parent info" tab under "LAC policy #2 - Club Hosted Meets and Session Credits".
Families of swimmers in Age Group and Senior are required to earn 22 session credits.
Families of returning Development swimmers are required to earn 11 session credits.
New families are not required to earn session credits but can transfer up to 5 session credits if they should decide to volunteer (which of course is encouraged and applauded).
Families with swimmers that have transferred from another team are considered returning swimmers and are subject to the session credit policy.
Any unworked session credits will be billed to your swimmer account at $40 per session at the end of the season.
The Session Credit Policy is under the constant scrutiny of the Board of Directors.
