Aug 31 - Update on LOSC Fall Pool Time and Space

Olympians Swimming

Dear Langley Olympian Families,

We would like to update you regarding the current situation that we are facing. We understand and stand by the anxious feelings that most of the families are facing. We look forward to getting past these hurdles during these unprecedented times. We appreciate everyone’s patience in the matter.

As of today, August 31, We still do not have any confirmation from the Township of Langley pertaining to our pool time and space. We have responded to the Township’s Pool Request prior to the deadline August 21st.   The Township has postponed the date that they are suppose to get back to user groups by a week, so are to hear back about our allocated time and space on on September 3rd.

Our intent is to have all groups (from Olympic Way to National Group and Masters) get back in the water. The hierarchy in terms of access to pool space prioritizes the National Group then down to Olympic Way/Mini Olympians. However, all groups will most probably be affected with limited pool time and space.

For now, we are still awaiting confirmation from the Township. We hope to hear back on September 3rd. Should this timeline proceed, we hope to let you know by September 4th pertaining to group time and space.

As of today as well, we still have not heard back from the Township Staff pertaining to the re-opening of the Walnut Grove and WC Blair Pools. There has been mention of re-opening indoor pools the last quarter, which we hope is October 1st.  However this is dependent on the Mayor and Council and Township Staff’s decision.

So far, the work of parents that have been proactive writing to Mayor and Council and going to Council Meetings have worked. We encourage all families to continue writing to Mayor and Council and let them know your thoughts and how the situation has affected your families.

We will inform everyone once we receive more information.

Thank you

LOSC Staff
