Provincial Group Swim Challenge Information
Dear Provincial Group Families,
On Tuesday, Oct 27, we will be doing our annual Swim Challenge. The Swim Challenge is a venue for swimmers to challenge themselves and see how fast they can go for 5,000 metres. We do this event every year in the fall and have seen swimmers greatly improve year over year! This year, we are doing this over a span of 1 hour 30 minutes. Swimmers are to swim full stroke freestyle without stopping. In the past, the majority of the swimmers in Provincial Group are able to complete it over that span of time. On Saturday, Oct 31, we will only be swimming from 6:00-7:00 AM. We may have dryland after depending on the weather.
Some swimmers have been leaving early in the past few weeks due to the duration they need to drive to school. This is one of the days your child may need to be a few minutes late school or get out of practice prior to finishing their Swim Challenge. If your child feels that they may not be able to complete 5,000 metres in 1 hour 30 minutes (doing 1500s around 27 minutes), we may have limited availability on Saturday, Oct 31 from 7:45-10:00 AM in where they are able to complete this in 2 hours.
Note: If you come on Saturday, you are NOT to come on Tuesday, Oct 27 practice and Oct 31 Provincial Group practice and proceed to Swim Challenge right away.
Parents are welcome to come to help time their child. We have limited stopwatch availability so we encourage families to use their phones to time.
If you choose to come on Saturday, Oct 31 to complete the Swim Challenge, please let me know by next Tuesday, Oct 20.
Thank you.
