CONGRATULATIONS to HILLARY METCALFE!

The Langley Olympians Swim Club would like to congratulate HILLARY METCALFE for a successful swimming career! Hillary recently announced her retirement from competitive swimming after the cancellation of the U SPORT Championships slated for February 2021. Hillary started swimming with LOSC on September 2002 at the age of 4 years old. She had her first official swim meet at Victoria’s 10 and Under Jamboree. From there, Hillary had a dominant, successful age group and university swimming career. Overall, Hillary swam a good 18 YEARS! She swam with LOSC as an Age Group Swimmer until the Summer of 2016. After graduation, Hillary swam with the UBC Thunderbirds Swim Team where the women’s team won four straight U Sport National Championships from 2016-2020.

 

Here are some of her career achievements: 

- Held a club record at one time in every age group from 8yrs old through to Senior and still holding multiple club records.

- Competed at her first international swim meet at 10 years old going to the Far Westerns Championships held at San Jose, California winning the gold medal in 50 breast . 

- At the age of 10 years old (Age Group: 10 years and Under), Hillary won 8 GOLD medals in the 2009 Winter Provincials

- At the age of 11 years old (Age Group: 11 years and Under), Hillary won 9 GOLD medals in the 2010 Winter Provincials

- Competed at her first Canadian National Age Group Championships in 2009. She won Silver in the 50 Breaststroke.  For years afterward wining several medals in different events

- Competed at her first Western Canadian Championships in 2011. She won Bronze in the 50 Breaststroke. For years afterward wining several medals in different events

- Competed at her first Canadian Trials (Olympic Trial Year) in 2012 at 13 yrs old and second Olympic Trials in 2016 at age 17 yrs old.

                        - 2019 World Student Games-Naples, Italy

In her University Years, Hillary garnered medals for her performances at the U Sport Championships. Her first one was from the 2018 Championships held in Toronto where she won SILVER in the 50 Breast. She would proceed to win SILVER in the 2019 (50 Breast and 200 IM) and 2020 (50/100/200 Breast) and GOLD in 4x100 medley relay U Sport Championships.
