CONGRATULATIONS TEAM WHITE and NEW CLUB RECORDS BROKEN!
The Langley Olympians Swim Club’s National, Provincial, and Age Group Performance groups embarked on a Winter version of the Red vs White Effort Swim Challenge. Unfortunately, due to the current situation caused the COVID-19 pandemic, swim teams in BC are unable to race against each other. In order to fulfill the competitive aspect of the sport, help motivate and inspire swimmers, and have fun racing, the LOSC coaching staff created a venue where swimmers are able to execute “effort swims” in the context of a practice.
The groups were divided into two teams with the goal of outdueling each other. Over the course of five weeks, countless club records were broken, multiple new time standards achieved, numerous new best times swam, and most of all, was lots of fun for the swimmers! Best times were awarded 50 points and times within 5% of their best awarded 20 points. Bonus points were awarded for club records (200 points) and new time standard achieved (150 points).
After five weeks of racing, TEAM WHITE won by 580 points! Team White accumulated 11,290 points while Team Red accumulated 10,710 points. Listed below are the Top 5 point earners:
