LOSC Coaches Win BC Swim Coaches Association Awards!
LOSC coaches won two awards during the BC Swim Coaches Association Awards presentations held last Thursday, April 8. These awards were for the 2019-2020 season.
.
Brian Metcalfe, CEO/Head Coach of the Langley Olympians Swim Club won the Junior National Coach of the Year. The award is based off the highest ranking FINA Point performance in an Olympic Event held Long Course from September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2020. This performance was Bailey Herbert’s 200 Individual Medley performance in the 2020 Winter Provincial Championships with a time of 2:15.27, scoring 811 FINA points.
.
In addition, coaches Brian Metcalfe and Zachary Haw, Assistant Head Coach, won the Senior Age Group Staff of the Year Award. The award is based off performances done in the 2020 BC Winter Provincial Championships held in Victoria BC from March 5-9, 2020. These are for the Top 8 combined scores for Girls 15 years and over and Boys 16 years and over. Of note is that LOSC won that edition of Provincial Championships.
.
Coaches Brian Metcalfe and Zachary Haw were humbled to receive the awards presented to them by their coaching colleagues. Together with other awards received this year, this is a testament to the continued commitment to excellence and high performance in the sport of swimming. Coaches Brian and Zachary attribute the success to the swimmers in the program having fun and wanting to excel in the sport through hard work. “The Sport of Competitive Swimming is highly rewarding. However, there will be days where one has to stay committed to the training and process. When swimmers enjoy this process, they execute great performances. This is what we have had in the past years and we excited to what the next few years have to bring.”
.
We would also like to acknowledge the Township of Langley’s commitment to support us through access to pool time and space and the ability of our swimmers to train Long Course, which ultimately is important facet of performing on the international stage.
