The St. James Seals trekked out west on Thursday for the first of two Manitoba Saskatchewan Open Championships (Man/Sask) this season. 6 Seals swimmers made the trip as Logan Bessas, Lucas Bewick, Hayden Grenkow, Maddie Reimer, & Arsenii Varchuk suited up to race, while AGE swimmer Max Wiebe took in the experience & did his best to keep Coach Cam in line on deck. The St. James Seals were represented by 10 swimmers this past weekend at Swim Manitoba's Manitoba Open Junior Provincial 2023 Short Course Championships at Pan Am Pool. Swimmers competed over 3 days and 4 sessions in the biannual provincial event trying to race their way to personal bests, medals, and Man/Sask qualifiying standards for early March. Seals swimmers took home almost 30 medals over the 3 day event; earning 7 gold, 11 silver, and 11 bronze. Impressively, each swimmer who competed at the championship collected at least 1 medal. This past weekend the Bison Sprint Meet was underway in the Main Tank at Pan Am Pool. For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic halted the world as we knew it, the St. James Seals are returning to national competition this week at the Speedo Western Canadian Swimming Championships.
