As your swimmer moves into the competitive stream, time standards play an important role in setting goals, not only to qualify for specific meets, but to also move up the groups and improve their swimming efficiency and competency. It is extremely important however that time standards not be leveraged as a measure of a swimmer’s success.
Success depends solely on consistent self-improvement, self discipline and hard work.
The competitive process begins with attending competitions hosted by Swim Ontario/Swimming Canada affiliated clubs, called invitationals. These swim meets may utilize the Swim Ontario time standard levels to qualify or in many instances, be open with no qualifying times or time standards.
