Mark Barr Head Coach

 

Coach Mark is the head coach of the Seatigers swim team and has been coaching for over 30 years. Coach Mark took over the Seatigers in 2019. Coach Mark believes in focusing on technique first and foremost then working about speed. He is often stressing the importance of efficiency in practice. Coach Mark is a local kid. Growing up in Pasadena he attended La Salle HS, PCC, and UCLA.

 

Coach Mark has previously coached at Pasadena City College where he coached diving and swimming. Coach Mark is also the Women’s Aquatic’s Head Coach at San Marino High School. While at SMHS  had 6 undefeated seasons and 3 Rio Hondo League (RHL) championships with JV boys. Now coaching the Varsity Girls, Coach Mark has 6 RHL titles. 5 undefeated seasons. 

 

He has made many significant impacts throughout his career, setting 8 records at San Marino High School. Coach Mark has guided athletes to high levels of success. Some of Coach Mark’s successful swimmers include:

  • Gabriel Chiu -  2021 Junior Olympic Champion
  • Olin Woo
    • 2024 Summer Age Group Champion
    • Nationally 7th in the 100 Breast
    • Nationally 12th in the 50 Breast
  • Maya Villasenor - Sectional level swimmer
  • Isaac Jung - CIF Finalist 100 fly and 200 free
  • William Valenzuela - CA top 50 in the 100 and 50 back (LCM)
Krista Lyons-Luiten Silver Coach

Coach Krista comes to us from the Arcadia Riptides. The former ARSC Head Coach has had success with all age groups and will help elevate our swimmers as well. Krista guided many swimmers to strong showings at Metro and AGC. Her knowledge of technique and her ability to break it down for all to understand will be felt right away.

Maya Villasenor Bronze / Bronze + Coach

Maya is the Bronze and Bronze + coach. Maya was a decorated Seatiger, High School, and college swimmer. She was a Sectional level swimmer as well as a CIF Finalist. Maya came back to coach Seatigers in April of 2024 and it did not take her long to make an impact. Her young swimmers have already started to demonstrate success.
