Nova Tech #5 Review

Miniwaves, Tidalwaves, and Novice swimmers dove back into racing at Nova Tech #5 on April 20. In total 31 swimmers across the three groups competed. They earned 51 best times and added 36 new swims to the SWAT ledger. We welcome 3 new Miniwaves swimmers and two new Tidalwaves swimmers to competition.

Novice put forth 9 swimmers to competition; many with eyes on AA qualification. The group earned 11 Best times and 12 New swims. Alex W contributed 2 best times and 1 new swim this meet, his first in a while. His meet was highlighted by 26 second drop in the 200m Freestyle, making his AA cut. He also made the AA cut in the 200m Individual Medley to complete his qualification. August added 1 best times of his own and 2 new swims. The best times was a 16 second improvement in the 100m Freestyle. Likewise, Ocean made 1 new personal best and 2 new swims. She dropped 7 seconds in the 50m Breaststroke. Wyatt had a strong showing with 2 personal bests and 1 new swim. He dropped 15 seconds in the 100m Backstroke, and made his first AA cut in the 200m Freestyle. Like Alex he just needs the 200m Individual Medley time to qualify for AA fully. Avery achieved 1 new personal record and added 2 new times. Emily had 2 new swims, one being a AA cut in the 200m Individual Medley. Rachel added a personal best off her own, a 16 second betterment to qualify for her first AA cut in the 200m Freestyle. She added 1 new time as well. Olesia had 2 PBs and a 9 second improvement in the 200m Individual Medley and her first AA cut. Sister Katya had a new swim and a 24 second best time in the 200m Individual Medley.

Tidalwaves was represented by 12 swimmers. Collectively, they improved 30 previous times and added 16 swims for the first time. They also welcome Kai and Olivia to SWAT competition, each posting their first 3 times as SWAT swimmers. Evan had 2 best times and 1 new time. His biggest improvement was a 13 second best time in the 50m Butterfly. Lesi had a perfect 3-for-3 best times meet. Kayden had two best times including a jump to level 2 in the 100m Individual Medley and 14 second drop in the 50m Butterfly. Maanya was also a perfect 3-for-3 with personal bests. Sophia, also perfect, dropped 15 seconds in the 100m Individual Medley and jumps to level 2. Mylee opens her level 2 account with 2 new swims including her first 200m Individual Medley. Camden was a perfect 3-for-3, including a 14 second improvement in the 100m Individual Medley. Matt made his level 2 debut with 3 new swims. Rowyn earned herself 2 best times and a new swim. She also bettered her old 100m Individual Medley by 14 seconds. Ryan also made his level debut and his first 200m Individual Medley resulted in his first AA cut as well.

Miniwaves brought 10 swimmers this time, including debuts for Klara, Londyn, and Liam. The group earned 10 best times, and 8 new swims. Natalie had 1 best time: a 5 second improvement in the 50m Butterfly. Harper swam 3 races and had a strong effort in the 50m Backstroke. Xavier raced to 2 personal bests, including a 7 second improvement in the 50m Breaststroke. Evelyn came out for 3 races. Freddy was a perfect 3-for-3 best times. His best showing was an 8 second best time in the 50m Butterfly. Alex Easton has 1 best times in the 50m Butterfly, dropping 9 seconds in the process. Marshall was perfect 3-for-3 on the day.

We have one more Nova Tech competition for the 23/24 season. The Nova Tech Explosion comes May 25 in Truro. Hopefully, there will another Miniwave or two competing; another Tidalwave jumping to level 2 or beyond; another Novice qualifying for AA.
