Patrick Kennedy Head Coach

Patrick comes to the Greenwich YMCA from Dallas, Texas where he was the Head Senior Coach at Texas Ford Aquatics in Frisco, Texas. Prior to joining TFA, he was the Assistant Head Coach at Metroplex Aquatics in Allen,,Texas, and Senior Coach at City of Plano Swimmers in Plano, Texas.

Patrick has coached swimmers to Top 100 All-Time in age group rankings, Texas State Champions, Futures, Junior National and Olympic Trial qualifiers. 

Patrick swam for City of Plano Swimmers and Plano Senior High School. While on COPS, he was a multiple time TAGS finalist and NJO qualifier in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. He was also a Texas State Record holder in the 15-16 boys 200 freestyle relay. Patrick graduated from the University of Arkansas where he competed for the Razorbacks for 4 years. He is still an active competitor in Masters swimming, having finished 2nd in the 200 meter breaststroke and 3rd in the 100 meter breaststroke at the 2017 USMS National Championship. In 2019, Patrick won the “Go the Distance” National Championship for the 45-49 age group.

Patrick’s coaching philosophy is one of team excellence through creating a family-like culture where athletes work together through goal setting, personal accountability, and high standards to achieve excellence.

 
Bill Walsh Head Age Group Coach

Prior to joining the Greenwich Marlins, Bill Walsh was Head Coach at Gael Aquatic Club for 5 years and Club Fit Briracliff for one season. While at GAEL Aquatic Club and Club Fit, he oversaw all age groups and was responsible for all administrative duties. He also spent 6 seasons as Assistant Age Group Coach with the Gael Aquatic Club from 2008-2014. Bill has coached numerous Senior Met, Junior Olympic, CT Swim Age Group, Eastern Zone, SPEEDO Sectional, Futures and Junior Nationals Qualifiers, as well as CT Swim and Metropolitan Age Group Champions. Bill is an ASCA Level 3 Coach.

 

In the summer, Bill is the Head Coach at the Roxbury Swim and Tennis Club. Prior to being the head coach at Roxbury, he was the Head Coach of Larchmnot Shore Club and Assistant Coach at the New York Athletic Club where he was in charge of the 11-17 age group. Bill has coached numerous FCSL and Westchester County Champions and as well as High Point Award winners at FCSL Championships and Westchester County Champions.


Bill attended Notre Dame High School in West Haven, CT where he was a part of three Connecticut State Championship Teams and gained All-State and All American honors in his senior year. After high school, he continued his swimming career at Iona College, where he scored at the MAAC Championships throughout his four years of eligibility. Bill excelled in the 100, 200 Fly and 200, 500 Freestyles, and received the most dedicated award in his Sophomore, Junior and Senior seasons and was named captain in his Senior year.

Steve Miller Assistant Junior Coach

 

Steve Miller is the Assistant Junior coach, and works with Junior 1 and Junior 2 groups.

During the summer you can find Steve on deck at Innis Arden Golf Club. He also coaches the Greenwich Academy Middle School team.   

 

Steve is a former varsity swimmer and record holder at Columbia University where he specialized in the 100, 200 and 500 freestyle as well as the 100 butterfly. He has competed as a Masters swimmer for almost 30 years, finishing as high as 3rd at USMS Masters Nationals in the 100 fly and 100 backstroke. Steve also serves as one of our Masters coaches.  He returned to coaching in 2016 after a successful career as a corporate lawyer. Prior to coming to the Marlins, Steve served as the Head Coach at Iona Prep, the New Rochelle Y and the Bailiwick Swim and Tennis Club.

 
Ainslie Dorrian Assistant Senior Coach

Ainslie Dorrian  is in his first year with the YMCA of Greenwich Marlins. Prior to his arrival with the Marlins, Ainslie  worked with the  GWYD Dolphins as a coach on a variety of levels since 2006 and prides himself on developing technique in a fun and engaged atmosphere for our swimmers of all ages. Ainslie graduated from Greenwich High School where he was a Cardinals running-back. Over the past decade Ainslie has competed in many local open water events. A graduate of the College of Mount St. Vincent (CMSV), Ainslie has a BA in Business. Ainslie will be coaching Senior 2 and looks forward to bringing out the best in our swimmers.

Megan Kelly Assistant Junior Coach

Megan Kelly is the Assistant Coach for the Junior 2 group.

 
Megan began her swimming career in Greenwich at age 8 and went on to swim at UC Santa Barbara where she specialized in breaststroke and middle-distance freestyle.  After college, she coached and swam for the 53rd St YMCA in NYC, started the McBurney YMCA Master program, and captained the NYAC elite team where she earned a USA Swimming national title in the women's 5K team competition. After moving back to her hometown, she worked as a stroke technician and coached at CPAC for 2 years where she assisted with the 12U and 10U age groups.  Megan has been active in the local swimming and endurance sports community for most of her life and presided over the FCSL for four years. In addition to swimming, Megan has earned US Age Group national championship titles in Triathlon and Aquabike. She is also a USA Triathlon level 1 coach, and a USA Cycling level 3 coach.
