Eastern Zone Open Water Swimmers and Families:

Due to the current explosion of Sea Nettles in the Chesapeak Bay, Meet Management felt it was in the best interest to move the race venue out of Bay Ridge and into National Harbor. National Harbor is located on the Potomac River on the Maryland side just south of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge off I-95. See link below for location and directions. With many swimmers doing their first Open Water swim we felt it is important that they have a very positive first experience and not be scared away dealing with potential jellyfish stings. Because the race will not take place in the salt water, hence no Sea Nettles, the use of full body swim suits will not be allowed.

National Harbor is a new venue that has just been made available to PVS. The water is clean with no boat traffic allowed in the area where the swim will take place. There is next to no current and the water depth is between 4 feet and 12 feet at mean low tide. The venue is very spectator friendly with a 700 foot concrete dock where spectators can view the entire race. The course configuration will be a rectangle 400 m x 100 m. Swimmers will pass the length of the dock only meters from the spectators so you can cheer them on and take lots of great photos!

Below are links to important information to National Harbor. See you all there. It’s going to be great!
