Coaches and Directors
Coach Ryan began his swimming career in high school in El Dorado, Arkansas. He went on to swim at the collegiate level at Henderson State University earning All American and Academic All- American honors. Ryan began his coaching career for the City of Arkadelphia Swim Team (COAST). While pursuing his Master’s degree, he served as graduate assistant coach for the Ouachita Baptist University Swim Team. During his time at Ouachita, Ryan was fortunate enough to work with NCAA national champion swimmers and learn a great deal about high level swimming. Ryan moved to Houston in 2014 and has coached in the Gulf LSC ever since. It has now been five years since Coaches Ryan, Adam, and Jesse founded Texas Elite Swim Team. Ryan is very proud to have watched TEST grow from 25 swimmers at Willow Pool in 2017 to a team of over 300 swimmers across 4 sites.
Ryan’s wife, Tara, works in commercial real estate and has enjoyed helping fill in as a coach at TEST.
Adam graduated from Western Kentucky
University with a bachelor's degree in exercise science. He was a
record holder in the 200 free, 200 back, and 800 free relay. While
finishing up his degree, he was an assistant coach and a dryland
supervisor for Southern Kentucky Swim Club.
From May through August 2013, he worked for IFLY swim
club.
After graduation, he was hired as an assistant head and senior coach for the Piranhas Swim Club in Bettendorf, Iowa. During his time with the Piranhas, Adam was elected as a member of the Iowa Senior Coaching Staff in 2015. He coached 13 Iowa state records and 44 Iowa state championship titles.
Adam moved to Gainesville, FL in 2016 as an assistant head coach at Gator Swim Club. In his time with GSC, he has been instrumental in helping the team achieve its high national rankings:

Adam was fortunate enough to worked with Caeleb Dressel and Ryan Lochte during his time with GSC.
He also helped coaching 2 American record holders Kieran Smith and Bobby Finke as a volunteer assistant coach at University of Florida Men’s Swimming and Diving. The team won SEC title in February of 2020.
Adam's wife, Sadie, is a flight attendant at Southwest Airlines.
Clay has been coaching in
the Gulf for twenty years. During this time, he has served as the
Head Coach for Team YES and Northeast Houston Aquatics. For three
years Clay was the Head Age Group Coach for Eagle Swimming
Association, leading their age group program to 6th place at the
2011 Short Course TAGS, as well as eight years as an Age Group
& Senior Coach with Katy Aquatics. Most recently he served as
the Head Age Group Coach for Houston Cougar Aquatics.
Clay joins TEST bringing his knowledge of building great swimmers
and dedicated athletes with him. As an ASCA Level 4 Certified
Coach, he has coached swimmers to some of the highest levels of
both senior and age group swimming including Olympic Trials
Qualifiers, National Age Group Record Holders, National Top 10,
Sectionals Finalists, TAGS Champions, All-Star Team and Zones Team
Qualifiers. Clay has also been actively involved in the Gulf LSC
Board as the Chairman of the Technical Planning Committee,
Nominating Committees, as well as being selected to the
coaching staff for All Stars & Zones Meets for the Gulf.
Clay is married to Laura Pruitt who is a former 2nd grade
teacher in Katy ISD. She is the Owner of Pruitt School of Swim
where she teaches survival swim lessons to kids, as well as
coaching a summer league swim team in the Whale League that their
three children Glen, Grace, & Glory swim on. The Pruitt family
has a long tradition of developing swimmers of all ages not only
how to be safe in and around the water, but also how to enjoy
swimming as a sport and the positive impact it has throughout their
lives.
