Practice rules for parents

1. Be supportive of the coach. Never be negative about the coaching staff in front of your child, another swimmer, or another parent. If there is a problem or concern, please immediately set up a meeting with the coach to discuss.

2. Leave coaching to the coaching staff. Avoid parent coaching.

3. Parents are invited to sit in bleachers on the length side of pool. Short ends of the pool (including bleachers and lockers) are considered swimmer and coach areas.  Parents are only allowed in the lobby bathrooms.  Per CCISD rules, parents are not permitted in the locker room on deck.

4. Dryland is not optional for HEATS 1, 2, 3, & 4. Swimmers must bring tennis shoes. Running is part of Dryland exercises.

5. Please arrive on time. Arriving late is disruptive to the workout.

6. Avoid living swimming through your child. Your child is the swimmer, not you.

7. Support your child in their swimming journey. Leave the judgment up the coach. Love your child as your child, not for any athletic or swimming accomplishments.

8. Parents are not permitted to video or photograph swim practices. It violates the privacy of other swimmers in practice.  Coaches will occasionally video swimmers to provide feedback.

9. Parents are encouraged to observe practice while supporting their children, the team, and getting to know the other parents.

10. Do not consume alcohol at team functions including swim meets.  Alcohol is prohibited at all USA swimming functions.

11. Families CANNOT be in the pool area before 5:00 pm without a coach.  Never enter the water without a coach present and available. Violating this policy may result in HEAT loosing the privilege to rent the pool.
