Rules

  • Behavior Expectations

    • There is to be no running in the hallway. Siblings must be supervised by their parent guardian at all times.

    • Positive calm communication in all the waiting areas at all times.

    • Please be quiet in the reception area and bathroom at all times – noise travels.

    • Students are expected to be on their best behavior in class and while in the waiting area before and after classes.  Students must be polite to other students, teachers, and anyone else at the studio.  Foul language WILL NOT be tolerated whatsoever.

    • Students please use the restroom before class to eliminate disruptions during class.

    • All mobile phones MUST be switched off or on silent whilst in class.

    • Students are responsible for their own property. We will not be responsible for lost or stolen items.

  • Participation

    • Everyone is expected to give 100% participation during class.

    • Approach your class with an open mind and a positive attitude.

      • Be willing to try new things.

      • Receive constructive criticism with grace.

      • Refrain from using the words "I can't."

      • Ask the teacher for help when needed.

      • Avoid unnecessary absences.

  • Drop Off  & Pick up Procedures

    •  Students should not be dropped off any more than 10 minutes prior to their first class.  Siblings should not be left at the studio without proper adult supervision.  We can not be responsible for children when they are not in class.  Students also need to be picked up promptly when their last class has ended.

    • All students must remain inside the studio until they are collected by their parents or responsible adult. This is for their safety and all students must abide by it.

  • Parking

    •  There is a parking lot behind the building, however, there are not a lot of spaces available.  There are four spots marked reserved, and these spots must never be used.  There are a few other spots that can be used.  There is also plenty of parking on Maine Street.  Both doors will always be open and well lit.  Jen and the student teachers will need access to the spots in the back because they will be the last to leave at night and it is safer if they all leave together.  Dropping off and picking up in the back is fine.  All children should wait inside until someone has arrived to pick them up.  No one should wait for their ride outside.

  • Attendance

    • Please arrive early for class – Lateness disrupts the class.

    • Regular attendance is very important.  If too many classes are missed, students will be asked to pay for private lessons in order to catch up with the rest of the group.

    • It is very important that students are on time for class.  When they arrive they should get dressed and put on their dance shoes so they are ready to start.  Students will be expected to be at class in time for stretching and warm ups.  In order to ensure the safety of the students, any student who arrives late will stretch and do the warm ups individually with the student teacher before being allowed to join the rest of the class in the dance.

    • When students enter the class they are not to exit unless permitted.

    • At Jen's Dance Academy, we appreciate and value communication. If you are unable to come to class, please call or text to let us know.

    • Attendance is taken at each class. Good attendance is imperative as absences and tardiness can restrict an entire class. The whole class can be affected by one student, so please make an effort to be at every class. Dance IS teamwork.

    • Attendance at any and all recital rehearsals in mandotory to perform in the recital. No exceptions.

    • There are no refunds given for missed classes.

  • Food/Drinks

    • ABSOLUTELY NO GUM, FOOD, OR DRINKS OTHER THAN WATER ARE ALLOWED OUT ON THE DANCE FLOOR.

    • Drink bottles with a top that latches tightly so it won't spill are allowed in the studio. All other drinks should remain in the waiting area.

    • Water and other drinks and snacks are sold at reception for $1 each if needed.

    • No sharing of drink bottles permitted.

  • Hours of Operation

    • Classes begin each night at 5:00 p.m.  The doors will open each day at  4:45 p.m  .  Employees will be the only people to enter the studio before  4:45 p.m  .

  • General

    • Lost and found is located in the main reception area. Please check for lost items.

    • Dance Attire - It is very important that students dress appropriately for class.  Proper attire includes leotards, tights, skirts, shorts, jazz pants, tank tops, and the correct dance shoes for each class.  T shirts, sweatshirts and denim of any kind are not allowed in class.  Hair that is long enough should always be pulled back.  This year students will be given one warning for not wearing proper attire to class, and if they come again without proper attire, the student will have to call their parents to have them bring the proper clothing

    • Dance Bags - There are shelves located inside the studio that students should use for their dance shoes and bags.  Students need to bring them in with them, it helps to alleviate clutter in the waiting area and allow more space for people to sit. It is also necessary to save time when switching from one class to the next
