WELCOME TO LYONS AQUATICS SWIM TEAM
2025-2026 Short Course Season
September 2nd, 2025 through March 26th, 2026
Age Group Descriptions:
PRE-TEAM (Ages 6–8) For beginners learning to swim independently. Will have successfully completed Level 4 Learn to Swim lessons.
- Focus: water safety, confidence, and legal Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly & Breaststroke.
DISCOVERY (Grades 2–4 | Ages 9–10)
- Yellow: 3 practices/week
- Blue: 4 practices/week
- Focus: Legal Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke & Butterfly, teamwork, and race skills.
DEVELOPMENT (Grades 5–6 | Ages 11–12)
- Yellow: 4 practices/week
- Blue: 5 practices/week
- Focus: Legal IM, pacing, underwater work, meet experience, and goal setting.
DEDICATION (Grades 7–8 | Ages 13–14)
- Yellow: 5 practices/week
- Blue: 6 practices/week
- Focus: Advanced training habits, accountability, race strategy, and leadership.
SENIOR (Grades 9–12 | Ages 14+)
- 5 practices/week
- Focus: Training under volume, specialization, time management, mentoring younger swimmers.
LYONS PERFORMANCE (8-12 | Ages 13+)
- 7 practices/week
- Focus: Elite-level training, advanced race skills, goal-driven performance, leadership.

Spring ONLY: April 6th, 2026 through May 30th, 2026
Long Course: April 6th through July 16th
Roster Groups & Placements:
Swimmers are placed based on their age at the end-of-season Championship Meet and current school grade. Coaches make final decisions based on ability, maturity, and commitment. Each family selects a weekly commitment level (number of practices per week) at registration.
- Registration for New Member Assessments will open Friday, February 6th.
- Registration for 2026 Long Course and Spring Only will open Friday, February 6th.
- If you registered for Year-Round in the Fall, you WILL NOT need to register for the LC Season.
Spring Program (2 practices a week)
Spring Swim Program designed for athletes participating in other sports who wish to maintain their connection to swimming during the spring months. This program is maintenance-focused only and is not intended for significant skill development or performance progression. Athletes train two times per week and do not follow the full Long Course training model.
Participation in the Spring Swim Program does not guarantee placement or readiness for Long Course training groups.
Long Course Season (Full Training & Competition)
Swimmers seeking continued development, improvement, and competitive progression are encouraged to participate in the full Long Course season.
