Kelly Peleckas Head Site Coach: Algonquin

Kelly started coaching in 2018 at the Schaumburg location. In 2019 she started coaching at the Algonquin location. Kelly believes in hands on learning especially with the younger kids because technique is the most important aspect in being a successful swimmer. Kelly believes that with hard work and a great mind set anyone can achieve their goals.

Kelly was a competitive swimmer her whole life and went on to swim at the high school as a 4-yr varsity swimmer.  She continued her swimming career at Illinois State University on a swimming scholarship while getting her bachelors degree in Computer Science.  Kelly lives with her husband in Palatine and has two kids.  Her son is living in the city and working as a Mechanical Engineer.  Her daughter is at Duke University earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Coach Jared started his swimming career at the age of 6 for the Elko Anacondas in Elko Nevada. With no other swim teams within 100 miles, Jared competed in swim meets all over the Western United States, including qualifying for Northwest Agegroup Sectionals in Washington, Western Zones in California, and Master's Nationals in Arizona. 

Coach Jared continued his swimming career in college at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma Washington. Jared was a 3 time First Team All Conference performer in the 100 Butterfly, 500 Freestyle and 800 Freestyle Relay, and a 12 time Second Team All Conference performer. Coach Jared was also voted Team Captain in his Senior Year. Jared Graduated in the Spring of 2015 with a B.S. in Exercise Science.

Jared started his coaching career at the age of 15, helping coach all age groups of the Elko Swim Team, while still competing with the team. Jared was named Assistant Head Coach, and interm Head Senior Coach of the Elko Swim Team in June of 2015. Jared moved to Evanston in 2018 and has been Head Coach of Old Orchard since August of 2018. 

Interesting Facts about Coach Jared:

Jared is a Green Bay Packer Shareholder, along with many other members of his Family. 

Jared played Trumpet for the Elko High School Pep, Marching, and Jazz band, and was named Trumpet Section Leader in both his Junior and Senior Year.

Jared loves playing chess, reading books (especially the Harry Potter Series), playing MineCraft, and is almost always tuned in to the biggest sporting events.

Matt swam competitively for nine years. He started his career for the Downers Grove Swim and Racquet summer swim program and swam club, high school, and most recently at Illinois College. He was a finalist in the 400IM in 2022 for the MWC. Matt started coaching five years ago for the Downers Grove Swim and Racquet Club. In his free time, he enjoys working out and playing video games. Matt is excited to be a part of the Life Time Swim community

Coach Kathleen began her love of swimming as an infant when her parents started her in swim lessons. She has early memories of swimming and playing "swim lessons" with her sisters and cousins in her grandparents' pool. She began swimming competitively at 8 years old, continuing through college; she also played water polo in high school. Coach Kathleen started coaching swimming in 2005 for both a USA and park district team. After a couple years off after having her third son, she is very excited to be coaching again! Coach Kathleen is loving getting to know all the amazing Vernon Hills swimmers! Outside of coaching, she is a middle school PE teacher and enjoys spending time with her family ... usually at the pool!

Shane Fergus Senior Coach and Warrenville Head Coach

Coach Shane started swimming when he was seven years old, and competed for various YMCA and Illinois Swimming teams throughout the years.  

During Coach Shane's collegiate career, he swam for the Lewis University Flyers while majoring in Sports Management and Business Administration. He was named to the Academic All-GLVC Team all four years. Coach Shane's favorite memory from swimming in college was traveling to Fort Pierce, Florida every winter for a one week training trip.

Coach Shane started coaching at the Life Time Warrenville location in 2016. His biggest strength is using his experiences from competitive swimming to help the athletes overcome obstacles both mentally and physically to achieve their goals. He believes that if the drive and motivation is there anything can be achieved.  He has seen the amount of Regional qualifiers at the Warrenville location go from 2 to over 50 this past year. He was also a part of Life Times first time attending the NCSA Age Group Championship meet in Orlando and their first time attending the Illinois Swimming Senior State meet. 

In the fall of 2019, Shane took over as the Senior Area Coach position for Lifetime Illinois while still remaining the Head Coach at Warrenville. His goal is to take all the Life Time locations to the next level and be well represented at the Regional, State, and National level.

Other Interesting Facts About Coach Shane:

He was on the State Championship Baseball Team during his Junior year of High School at Kaneland High School. 

Coach Shane has swam in both the 2017 and 2018 Trans Tahoe Relay.  This is an open water race across Lake Tahoe in Nevada and California!

He is the oldest of five siblings, and they all swim competitively and in college.

He is a Chicago Cubs, Notre Dame, and Tom Brady fan.

He also loves traveling with family and friends when he is not at the pool!

April Jensen Gold and Senior Coach: Warrenville
April is recently getting back into  coaching after taking time away to have her two daughters, Avery & Riley with her husband Brent, who is a Real Estate Broker. Although Brent grew up in the area, they have lived in the western suburbs of Chicago for the past year, and are excited to be back close to family and friends.  They are thrilled to be submersing ourselves in such a great community that is the Life Time Fitness family and local area. 
April is originally from Honolulu, Hawaii where she grew up and she went on to swim in college for the University of Pacific in California.

April started her  coaching career while earning her Masters Degree at Cleveland State University and fell in love with the profession. She has made stops at Florida Gulf Coast University, Stanford University, and most recently, as the Associate Head  Coach at the University of Notre Dame. Although she has spent the majority of her career  coaching at the collegiate level, she has plenty of experience  coaching at all skill levels.  

April works with our upper level Age Group and High School athletes! With her experience she is very excited to help kids get to the next level in their swimming careers that hopefully goes on to the collegiate level!
