Hey Spalsh Families!
Good afternoon Marlin families,
We've put together a little guide to help you and your swimmer navigate our upcoming meet. We realize meets may be a new experience for you and your swimmer and it can be a bit scary. No need to worry our staff has years of "first meet" experience.
Swim Meet Info
-
When you get to the pool, come onto the pool deck and look for our team banner. We will have a team banner hung up where our team is located that looks like this:
-
Please remind your swimmers to go to speak to one of our coaches for feedback after they are done with each race.
-
Support your teammates with lots of team spirit and cheering!
WHAT SWIMMERS SHOULD BRING:
Wear your red Marlins t-shirt and red Marlins swim cap.
Make sure your swim bag is properly packed!
-
Team suit (If our team suit is not in by Friday, any regular swimsuit is fine)
-
Goggles (we recommend to keep an extra set of goggles in the bag, just in case)
-
Spiritwear
-
Parka if you have one
-
Two towels
-
Bottle of water and/or sports drink
-
Healthy snacks - Kids burn lots of calories during warm-ups and races, and they need to replace that lost fuel. Some suggestions for quick, mid-meet snacks are:
-
Apple sauce packets or fresh fruit
-
Raisins or fruit snacks
-
cheese and crackers
-
Rice chex
-
Non-fat yogurt
-
Rice krispie treats
-
Avoid high protein or high fat snacks during a swim meet
-
-
Our team will stand for the Pledge of Allegiance & National Anthem with our right hand over our heart.
-
Please make sure you know how to put on your own swim cap - practice this at home!
-
Our expectation is we will be the best behaved & most engaged team on the pool deck.
-
We expect our Whatever it takes philosophy to be present at any competition, where our athletes are not only focused on their events but also on supporting, motivating and inspiring their teammates.
-
We clean our area after every session and thank officials and volunteers for their help in making any competition we attend a success.
-
Swimmers must stay with our team between events (nobody should be going up to sit with parents or to the concession stand during the session when you are swimming). If you need to use the restroom, ask the coaching staff before leaving the pool deck.
-
No swimming in the warmup/cool down pool for ages 10 & Under unless you are in Splash 3 and specifically told to do a warmup or cool down by a coach.
OTHER INFO:
DQs: Disqualifications do happen. We look at these as learning opportunities, and if they are going to happen, we prefer them earlier in the season so we have ample time to correct in practice. Coaches will use their discretion on when to inform each swimmer about a disqualification, likely at the end of the meet or potentially even in the next practice.
Relays can change often and sometimes right at the last minute!
