Penn Pool Update

John VanDriessche

Dear Marlin Families,

I want to provide you with an update regarding the Penn pool. Unfortunately, we've encountered an additional delay that will extend our timeline for return to September 22.

Late yesterday afternoon, we learned that while the Penn pool has been filled and the chemicals balanced, an issue with the boiler was discovered on Thursday. The necessary parts have been ordered with installation scheduled for early next week upon their arrival.

Our Response

We immediately began reaching out to our contacts at other local facilities to secure alternative pool space. While Friday evening timing limited immediate responses, we are actively pursuing creative solutions and remain committed to finding opportunities for our swimmers to train. Schedule updates will be communicated as they become available, potentially on a daily basis as we navigate this challenge together.

For families with access to alternative pools this weekend, we encourage you to take advantage of any swimming opportunities that fit your schedule. This week's Fins Group workouts are available on our website, and Elite practice plans will be posted later this morning.

Moving Forward Together

While this is certainly not how any of us envisioned starting our season, I've witnessed firsthand how challenges like these can strengthen a team's character and deepen the bonds within our swimming family. The patience, understanding, and loyalty you've shown during this difficult period speaks volumes about the quality of our community.

Every team faces adversity at some point. What defines us is not the challenges we encounter, but how we respond to them together. This experience is building resilience in our athletes and reinforcing the values that make our program special – perseverance, adaptability, and unwavering support for one another. We can do hard things!

We will emerge from this challenge stronger, more united, and with an even greater appreciation for each other and the pool time we'll soon have. Your continued trust and support during this time means everything to us and speaks to the exceptional character of our Marlin families.

Thank you again. Better days are ahead.
