CPSC WEEKLY UPDATE – December 1, 2025
RELAYS AT SWIM MEETS:
As a reminder to all parents, please do not have your swimmer leave a meet early unless they have already been told by their coach that they are not on a relay. In the past, and most recently, we have had swimmers leave early without saying anything to a coach or asking if they were on a relay prior to leaving, which left 3 swimmers sitting around waiting for their relay….which they could not now swim. All swimmers will be placed on a relay as either a participant or as an alternate (in case someone doesn’t show up for the meet) and should ask a coach first prior to leaving after their last individual event. Thanks for your help with this!!
NO PRACTICE DAYS FOR REST OF SEASON:
There are several days that we will NOT have practices either for a home HS dual meet, a club meet on a Friday, or a holiday. Those dates are as follows:
- December 2, 5, 12, 16, 24 (PM only), 25, 31(PM only)
- January 1, 7, 8, 23, 30
BIG HAIR CAP ORDER:
We will have Elsmore open up another round of big hair cap orders for the girls who need them. The minimum order is 13 orders of caps (2 caps per order) to meet the 25 cap minimum. There will be a cut off date of December 18th, as the shop should open on December 4th. It will take 3-4 weeks AFTER the cut off date for them to arrive. An email will be sent out for pick up when they do arrive. To order click on the Elsmore logo on the bottom of our home webpage and it should take you to our shop.
NEW OFFICIALS CLINIC:
Calling all parents….if you’re interested in volunteering as a swim official, please come to the CPHS SGI Room on Wednesday, December 10th at either 5:15 pm or at 6:30 pm (which ever best fits your swimmers schedule) and learn from two of the best this state has to offer!! Tom Gubbins & Eric Calzonzi will be walking you through the steps to becoming a USA Swimming Official. As with most club in the country and especially our state, USA Swimming and Indiana Swimming are in need of officials. Without enough officials we cannot put on an efficient swim meet to teach our swimmers when they do something wrong. Please consider becoming an official for the Crown Point Swim Club!!! If you have any questions, please reach out to Tom Gubbins ([email protected]) or Eric Calzonzi ([email protected]).
CPSC NIGHT at MERRILLVILLE DUAL:
We are again having a Crown Point Swim Club night at the high school dual meet vs Merrillville on Tuesday, December 16th at 5:30 pm. All CPSC swimmers and parents are encouraged to attend. Swimmers are free but parents will have to pay admission. Swimmers will be recognized on deck at the diving break…..so wear your CPSC spirit wear!
CPSC SPIRIT WEAR / APPARREL STORE:
CPSC has a new spirit wear store with Nottingham Embroidery. There is no deadline with this store. If you do purchase it takes about 2-3 weeks for delivery.

MID SEASON TESTING DAYS / MOVE UPS:
We will be offering Mid-season Testing Days for swimmers to try to move up to the next level group on Monday, December 1 & Wednesday, December 3. Testing will be during the swimmers’ normal practice times but could possibly go a little longer if necessary. No one is required to do the test and it is the swimmer’s option. If you have any questions about what is involved with the testing, please reference the “Coaches Packet for Parents” on our Forms page of the website. The stands will be closed to parents on these days so as to not add additional stress on the swimmers who are testing.

Reminders for Parents
- Once Bronze & Silver swimmers are done with practices, they either need to be picked up or sit up in the stands until they are. We have had a few roaming around and on pool deck after they are done with practices.
- If Gold & Platinum swimmers are being dropped off earlier than 15 minutes before their practices start, they need to sit up in the stands until the coaches call them down. We have had WAY TOO MANY roaming around the school or going outside where they are unsupervised and we cannot have that. Please talk with your swimmers.
- No parents are allowed on the pool deck during practices and meets (unless volunteering at the meets) as this would invalidate our club insurance through USA Swimming’s provider. There is no exception on this. If you have any questions on this, please contact Head Coach John Krick.
- No parents are allowed in the locker rooms as this is a Safe Sport violation. Again, no exception on this. We are a Safe Sport Certified club and cannot risk losing this certification. If your swimmer seems to be taking too long (meaning longer than 15-20 minutes), please ask a coach or another swimmer if they can check on them. If you have any questions on this policy, please contact Tiffany Lyles, CPSC Safe Sport Chair.
- Please let the coaches do the coaching. We celebrate your role as a parent and realize the work that you do every day in that. Please allow the coaches to be the ones that the swimmers get their swimming feedback and information from at the connection is critical to their success. Even if you swam, many things technically have changed, and the coaches are the best avenue for the swimmers to learn this information from.
- If you need to speak to a coach, please email them to schedule a time as they will be more than willing to speak to you AFTER or BEFORE practice. During practice is not the time for coaches to have those discussions as it takes their attention away from the swimmers. If it is an emergency, then, please do not come on deck, come to the edge of the stands and ask a coach if they can meet as soon as possible.
- Attendance matters. We will always understand conflicts that keep our swimmers from attending practices, however, the more they can be there, the quicker progress can come. Being there is the first step to becoming an elite level swimmer and while there are many after that, if we don’t get to see your swimmers more than twice a week, it becomes harder to teach the technicalities of swimming for them to pick up on and make habits of.
- If you every have any questions about the “wet side” of the program, please contact Head Coach John Krick at either 219-838-3294 (DAWG) or at [email protected]. If you every have any questions about the “dry side” of the program, please contact one of our board members whose email can be found on the “COACHES” page of the website down at the bottom of the page.
- Always stay positive with your swimmers, they put more pressure on themselves they you’ll ever realize. And trust me, adding pressure to a boiling pot never ends well.
