DCST Finishes 2^nd at David Wolf Invite

                DCST started the New Year with a sluggish performance at the David Wolf Invite.  On the day, DCST only had 63 lifetime best times out of 167 individual swims (38% improvement).  DCST swimmers achieved 3 District and 1 Area qualifying times for the first time this season.

While the times were a little disappointing, DCST did do extremely well in the standings.  DCST finished second only to the host Belvidere team, who had 92 swimmers in the meet compared to DCST’s 63.  Another nice stat was DCST swimmers set 11 new meet records.  Individual records were set by Grant Alef (2), Daniel Hein (2), Emily Launer (2), Joelle Maish (2) and Athena Ye (1), while the relay team of Emily Launer, Natalie Carlson, Katie Hallenbeck and Rebecca Hallenbeck set both the Medley and Free Relay records.

Congratulations to the following 20 swimmers who had at least two best individual times at the meet:  Bethany Adamski, Ty Ament, Melissa Cherry, Abby DeDina, Bailey Flemming, Grace Flemming, Daphne Howell, Liam Lindgren, Jonathan Liu, Riley Lohse, Megan Maish, Alexa Miller, Kyle Miller, Lucy Prais – Lewis, Sarah Robertson, Lauryn Stoffregen, Amal Tatum, Andrew Tatum, Amanda Underwood and Athena Ye.

After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Megan Maish, age 11, and Andrew Tatum, age 7, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.
