DCST National Results (Day 3)
On Day 3 at the YMCA National Championships, DCST had a decent day. Out of DCST’s 10 individual swims, 6 were lifetime best times. This brings the week’s total to 17 career best times out of 23 swims. Emily Launer’s 800 Freestyle was the highest finish on the day for DCST. She took home a 5
th place finish in this event and earned herself National All-American honors.
DCST’s other All-Americans on the day were Grant Alef, Kei Ishimaru, Michael Gordon and Chad Thompson who teamed up to take 11
th in the Men’s 400 Freestyle Relay. This group of four dropped 7.7 seconds in prelims, and then they dropped another second in finals. In the women’s relay, Grace Waller, Katie Hallenbeck, Casey Jepsen and Emily Launer had a nice time drop by dropping 6.6 seconds in the preliminary session. They finished 19
th in this event.
In the 200 Breaststroke, Valerie Jones lowered her personal best time by 3.5 seconds in prelims, and then she dropped another 5.2 seconds in the evening earning her a 17
th place finish. Sharron Isola also had two excellent swims in the 100 Butterfly. She lowered her time in the final session by 0.5 seconds after swimming a personal best by 4 seconds in the morning. She finished 21
st in this event. Michael Gordon set a new DCST Team Record in the Men’s 200 Breaststroke with his 2.5 second time drop. DCST’s other time improvements on the day: Kei Ishimaru – 100 Butterfly (1 second), Casey Jepsen - 200 Freestyle (0.5 seconds), Sam Seneczko - 200 Freestyle (1.5 seconds).
