DCST Starts out Area Meet with 3 New National Qualifying Times

            DCST got off to a great start in the IL / MO Area Meet with 9 career best individual performances out of a total of 12 events.  One of these individual swims was a new national qualifying time.  In addition to the individual swims, DCST easily qualified both of their 400 yard Freestyle Relays for the National Championships.  The girls relay team of Brittnie Dean, Kristin Van Oost, Caitlynn Moon and Emily Launer went almost 2 seconds under the qualifying time; while the boys relay team of Josh DeDina, Daniel Hein, Jack Fergus and Kei Ishimaru went almost 3 seconds under the qualifying time.  DeDina also qualified for the 200 yard Breaststroke with his 3 second time drop.

Other best times on Friday evening were:

Jack Fergus - 0.3 seconds time drop in the 50 yard Freestyle

Shane Fergus – 0.9 seconds time drop in the yard 100 Freestyle

Michael Carlson – 3.4 seconds time drop in the 100 yard Butterfly

Theresa Alef – 4.0 seconds in the 200 yard Backstroke

Sarah Fergus – 2.4 seconds in the 200 yard Backstroke

Ryan Schultz – 3.6 seconds in the 200 yard Backstroke

Athena Ye – 4.3 seconds in the 200 yard IM

Emily Launer – 4.8 second in the 400 yard IM
