DCST Finishes Regular Season with a 9 – 3 Record

            The Kishwaukee YMCA / DeKalb County Swim Team (DCST) finished their 2012 – 2013 winter regular season with a 9 – 3 dual meet record by defeating Rockford, Belvidere and Streator.  As a team, DCST had 167 personal lifetime best times out of a total of 325 swims for a very good 51% improvement rate.  DCST also had 11 individual swims which were first time District qualifying times, and 11 individual swims which were first time Area qualifying times.  Furthermore, DCST had 14 swimmers swim a new event legally for the first time.

            After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Ava Farrell, age 8, and Aidan Stanik, age 9, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.

            The following 51 swimmers had at least two best individual times in the meet:  Franz Allendorfer, Ty Ament, Camryn Anderson, Ally Belick, Ava Bickner, Owen Bockman, Acelin Bruhl, Palmer Bubb, Preston Bubb, Joanna Burnham, Kennedi Carey, Celia Carpenter, Kylie Cork, Brittnie Dean, Noah Dean, Quin Dukes, Trinity Eissens, Ava Farrell, Maura Fisers, Kaitlyn Goff, Madisyn Grever, Evan Harrelson, Theo Heilman, Ethan Heinrich, Tyler Hull, Levi Johnson, Sara Johnson, Magnus Keswani, Abby Krull, Mikaili Little, Riley Lohse, Joe Luetkehans, Holden Mackey, Maggie McConnaughay, Michaela McMahon, Ana Flavia Michelini, Abby Pardridge, Dane Pardridge, Aidan Stanik, Lily Stanley, Paige Summerhill, Devin Vance, Calvin VanderSchee, Luke Veronda, Abigail Wagner, Camryn Whitaker, Elizabeth White, Asher Wiegartz, Riley Wiegartz, Madison Williams and Morgan Williams.

            Tomorrow at the DCST Open will be the last chance for swimmers to achieve District Qualifying times.  Swimmers wanting to swim in this meet should sign-up on-line by midnight tonight.  Warm-ups are at 1:00 PM, and the meet starts at 2:00 PM.
