DCST National Championship Results – Day 3 Moon Wins 2nd National Title
On day 3 of the National Championships, Caitlynn Moon won her second national title of the meet in the 200 meter Freestyle. Her time of 2:02.62 was a new DCST Team Record and a personal best by 1.1 seconds. She has now been a National Champion 6 times and a National All-American 24 times in her career.
Daniel Hein was extremely busy on Wednesday. He was name a National All-American two times on the day. Like Moon, he has been name a National All-American three times, so far, this week. In his career, he has been named a National All-American 19 times which moves him into 4th place on DCST All-Time All-American list. In his individual event, he took home 3rd place with a 1.4 second time drop in the 100 meter Backstroke. This performance garnered him a new team record, too. He earned his second All-American honor of the day when he teamed up with Ryan Schultz, Dylan Powers and Jacob Bjork for an impressive 5.4 second time improvement and 11th place finish in the 400 meter Medley Relay. Ryan (5 times), Dylan (3 times) and Jacob (2 times) all have now all earned All-American honors multiple times in their careers.
DCST’s Women’s 400 Medley Relay was outstanding. Athena Ye, Theresa Alef, Sarah Hein and Moon went 6.1 seconds faster than their seed time. DCST’s other best time in the morning session was done by Bjork in the 50 meter Breaststroke. He went 0.6 seconds under his career best time.
DCST had three person best times in time trials. Austin Bockman and Michael Carlson dropped 2.0 and 2.3 seconds, respectively, in the 200 meter Freestyle. In the 50 meter Freestyle, Holden Mackey went a 26.01 which was under the meet qualifying time and his personal best by 0.4 seconds.
After two days, DCST has 18 best times out of 28 total swims for a 64% improvement rate.
