Hein and Bjork Earn National All-American Honors on Day 2 of the YMCA National Championships

         On Day 2 of the YMCA National Championships in Greensboro, NC, DCST swimmers Daniel Hein (twice) and Jacob Bjork earned National All-American honors.  In the 200 yard Backstroke, Daniel was named a National All-American for the first time on the day when he lowered his personal best time by 2.0 seconds in prelims and an additional 0.5 seconds in finals.  He finished 4^th in the event, and he broke his previous DCST Team Record.  The second time Hein was awarded National All-American honors was in the 100 yard Butterfly.  On the day, he was 0.7 (0.5 seconds in prelims and an additional 0.2 second in finals) seconds under his previous personal best time.  In addition to breaking his previous team record in this event, he also set the team record in the 50 yard Butterfly with his lead-off split.  His 6^th place finish was the 24^th time in his career in which he was named a National All-American.

         Jacob Bjork was named a National All-American for his performance in the 200 yard Breaststroke.  This was the 3^rd time Jacob has received this honor, and it was the first time in an individual event.  Jacob was on fire in the preliminary session when he went 3.0 seconds under his previous best time.  In the final session, he dropped an additional 0.5 seconds.  He finished in 11^th, and he broke the previous team record by 2.5 seconds.  On the girls’ side, Kylie Olson had a very nice 200 yard Backstroke swim with a 0.4 second time improvement.  In time trials, both Aleida Wilkins and Michael Carlson were 2.1 seconds under their personal best times in the 200 yard Breaststroke and 100 yard Butterfly, respectively.

Note – Day 1 of the National Championship Meet consisted of the 1000 yard Freestyle events.  DCST didn’t have any entries in these events.
