Athena Ye Wins 3rd State Title on Final Day of the Age Group Championships
Athena Ye won her 3rd individual state title of the weekend on the final day of the Illinois Age Group Championships. Athena’s win came in the 200 yard Backstroke with a new DCST team record time of 2:00.69. Ye also set another team record with a time of 23.86 and a 4th place finish in the 50 yard Freestyle. A 3rd DCST team record fell on the day when the foursome of David Ruetten, Quinn Cynor, Alex Schlueter and Noah Dean finished 8th in the 400 yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:25.00. Their time was an amazing 4.7 seconds faster than the previous team record and 1.7 seconds under their seed time. In individual events, Dean and Cynor had excellent performances in the 50 yard Freestyle (10th place) and 500 yard Freestyle (14th place), respectively. Cynor was 1.7 seconds under his previous best. In the 10 and Under Boys Age Group, Jacob Gramer in the 200 yard Freestyle and Noah Johnson in 50 yard Backstroke both went lifetime bests by 0.2 seconds.
