2017 Illinois Open

DCST finds reasons to celebrate at the 2017 Illinois Open, Champaign, IL

DCST swimmers participated in the 2017 Illinois Open meet in Champaign over the weekend.  I think many of the parents enjoyed the weekend away from home more than the swimmers.  A block of rooms were reserved at the Home2 by Hilton hotel where families took advantage of the amenities in the evening to laugh and enjoy a little get-a-way time together complete with a cookout. I heard the burgers were really good.

DCST swimmers participated in 316 swims over the course of 3 days.  The boys scored 942 points and earned the bragging rights to 2nd place.  The girls earned 378 points to earn 6th place.  There were 14 teams and a few unattached athletes participating in this meet.  

Points Earned for the team:

We had some large and small time drops.  Out of 316 swims, 132 swims achieved new personal best times and 75 earned a time in the event.  Way to swim fast DCST.  We were very proud of the swimmers this weekend.  You all worked, and played, hard.
