Gators Triumph at Indiana State Championships

The Gators have been on a hot streak as we roll through Championship Season!

Two weekends ago, Naomi Weaver swam 4 events, 100 Back, 200 Back, 100 Fly, and 200 IM, at the Indiana Long Course Senior State Championships. This is an exceptionally fast meet featuring not only the best high school swimmers Indiana has to offer, but also many returning college swimmers that call Indiana home. Naomi represented the Gators extremely well, including a lifetime best swim in the 200 IM, and placing 55^th in the state in the 200 Backstroke! Great work and congratulations Naomi!

This past weekend, 3 Gators competed in the Indiana Age Group State Championships. Against the very best competition among 14 and under swimmers from across the state, we saw some exceptional swims with several highlights below.

• Emmanuel Jackson competed in 6 events for the Boys 13-14 age group, 50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Fly, and 400 IM. EJ had 6 lifetime best swims and earned 2 top 20 finishes, including 10^th in the 50 Free and 18^th in the 100 Breast. EJ broke 5 Gator team records in the 50, 100, 200 Free, 100 Breast, and 400 IM. In addition, EJ earned USA Zone Championship cuts in the 50 and 100 Free and will represent the Gators and Team Indiana at the US Central Zone Championships in Elkhart, Indiana in 2 weeks!
• Nick McCoy competed in 6 events for the Boys 11-12 age group, 50 Free, 200 Free, 400 Free, 50 Breast, 100 Breast, 200 Breast. Nick had 6 lifetime best swims and made the podium in 3 events, earning 7^th, 8^th, and 8^th place medals for the 200, 100, and 50 Breast respectively. Nick broke 2 Gator team records in the 100 and 200 Breast. Nick also earned a USA Zone Championship cut in the 50 Breast and will join EJ in representing the Gators and Team Indiana in Elkhart for the US Central Zone Championships! Nick was also mentioned in the Daily Journal for his performance.
• Moses Weaver competed in 3 events for the Boys 13-14 age group, 100 Free, 200 Free, and 200 Back. Moses had 3 lifetime best swims and earned two 41^st place finishes in the 200 Free and 200 Back. Moses also broke the Gator team record in the 200 Back!

Sandwiched between these two Championship meets was our 12 and under Stars and Stripes Meet at Center Grove. Our young swimmers continue to show their impressive development and they put on a show for us in the pool. Highlights from the meet are below.

• Avaneesh Achar – 10^th in the Boys 11-12 50 Fly with 5 LTBs
• Rayna Brenton – 9^th in Girls 8 and under 25 Breast with 4 LTBs
• Cooper Cridlin – 6^th in Boys 11-12 100 Breast with 4 LTBs
• Emilia Cridlin – 26^th in Girls 10 and under 50 Breast with 4 LTBs
• Jasmine Goyal – 12^th in Girls 8 and under 50 Back with 5 LTBs
• Marshall Jackson – 2^nd in Boys 8 and under 25 Back with 5 LTBs
• Emme Lewallen – 19^th in Girls 11-12 100 Back with 4 LTBs
• Yoni Leuken – 5^th in Girls 10 and under 100 Breast with 3 LTBs
• Jacob McCoy – 2^nd in Boys 8 and under 50 Fly with 5 LTBs and a new Gator team record in the 100 Breast
• Cecilia Mears – 15^th in Girls 10 and under 50 Breast with 4 LTBs
• Lila Phillips – 8^th in Girls 11-12 100 Back with 5 LTBs
• Lucas Phillips – 12^th in Boys 10 and under 100 Back with 4 LTBs
• Eleanor Reese – 24^th in Girls 10 and under 100 Free  with a LTB
• Vivian Sahm – 11^th in Girls 10 and under 100 Back with 4 LTBs
• Hadleigh Sawyer – 39^th in Girls 11-12 50 Back with 3 LTBs
• Samey Sheets – 4^th in Girls 10 and under 100 Breast with 5 LTBs
• Reagan Sullivan – 6^th in Girls 10 and under 100 Free with 3 LTBs

This is our last week of practice for our Long Course season as we approach the Divisional Championships this coming weekend. Information on registration and practices for Short Course season will be coming very soon so be on the lookout for that.
