Gators Wrap Up Championship Season With Strong Showing at State Championship Meets

Gator President

Against the fastest swimmers, in one of the fastest swim states in the country, our Gators continued to display their prowess the past two weekends at Indiana Swimming’s Senior State and Age Group State Championship Meets. Qualifying for these meets is a huge accomplishment itself and represents the hard work and dedication of our swimmers and coaches throughout the season.

At the Senior State meet at Pike HS, Eleanor Guipe competed in 2 events over the weekend, finishing 37th in the 100 Breast and 44th in the 200 Breast.

At Age Group State, we sent 6 swimmers to the Nat downtown. Unfortunately, illness crept in and limited Emmanuel Jackson to only competing 2 of the 3 days, and certainly not at 100%. But nonetheless he and the rest of the Gators showed their dedication and pushed through with some awesome performances.

  • Boys 13-14 200 Medley Relay team consisting of David Brenton, Nick McCoy, Emmanuel Jackson, and Griffin Kroll, finished 25th, while breaking the team record held since 2002!
  • Boys 13-14 400 Free Relay team consisting of Brenton, McCoy, Kroll, Jackson finished 27th, also setting a new team record previously held by our own Coach Cowboy Luke Beasley!
  • Aberdeen Couturier finishes 20th in Girls 11-12 50 Breast with a lifetime best swim
  • Emmanuel Jackson, after scratching Friday’s events, competed in Boys 13-14 and finished 14th in 50 Free, 42nd in 200 IM, 21st in 100 Breast, and 43rd in 200 Free
  • Nick McCoy, also competing in Boys 13-14 age group, finished 21st in 1650 Free, 34th in 200 Breast, 34th in 100 Breast, and 59th in 200 IM, with 3 lifetime best swims and a new team record in the 200 Breast!
  • Elyza Tschopp, competing in the Girls 11-12 age group, finished 29th in 50 Back, 30th in 200 Free, 34th in 100 Back, 41st in 100 Free, and 55th in 50 Free with 2 lifetime best swims

Great job to those who competed at the State meets, and to all our Gator swimmers on a very successful season! And thanks to our amazing coaches, Abbi, Brooke, Diego, Lucas, and Luke for all their hard work all season long! It really has been a wonderful season with so many successes and so much improvement across the board.
