Gators Take A Bite Out Of The Competition At PIKE Long Course Opening Meet

Our Gators were back in the pool for the first meet of the long course season this past weekend at Pike HS. It was our first taste of a 50m pool in nearly a year and with only a few weeks of practice under our belts, the Gators still took a bite out of the competition. Highlights from the meet are below.

  • David Brenton – 8th in Boys 13-14 200 Back with 4 lifetime best swim (LTBs), and new Divisional Championship cuts in the 50 and 100 Free!
  • Aberdeen Couturier – 1st in Girls 11-12 100 Breast with 1 LTB
  • Bailey DeSantis – 15th in Girls 10 & Under 50 Back with 6 LTBs and new Divisional Championship cuts in the 50, 100 Free and 50, 100 Back!
  • Yoni Lueken – 28th in Girls 11-12 50 Breast with 3 LTBs
  • Jacob McCoy – 5th in Boys 10 & Under 100 Fly with 4 LTBs
  • Nick McCoy – 2nd in Boys Open 1500 Free with 3 LTBs
  • Lila Phillips – 6th in Girls 11-12 50 Fly with 7 LTBs and new Divisional Championship cuts in 50, 100 Back, 50 Breast, and 50 Fly!
  • Lucas Phillips – 3rd in Boys 10 & Under 200 IM with 9 LTBs and new Divisional Championship cuts in 50, 100, 200 Free, 50, 100 Back, 50 Fly, and 200 IM!
  • Joe Sheets – Two 1st place finishes in Boys Open 100 Breast and 200 IM with 2LTBs
  • Reagan Sullivan – 4th in Girls 10 & Under 100 Free with 5 LTBs
  • Elyza Tschopp – Two 1st place finishes in Girls 11-12 100 and 200 Free with 9 LTBs, a new State Championship cut in the 50 Free, and new Divisional Championship cuts in 100, 200 Free, 50, 100 Back, 50, 100 Breast, 50 Fly, and 200 IM!

A few important notes and reminders:

  • Our pool cleanup and Safe Sport Athlete training is this coming Saturday May 20 from 9-11 am. This is in place of practice as this training is very important to the safety of all our athletes. See your email for full details.
  • We will be posting the meet schedule shortly for our Developmental swim league. We started this last year as a series of dual meets with Plainfield, Avon, and Brownsburg with a Championship meet at the end. The series of meets will all take place during June. These meets are for our 14 and under athletes that have not yet achieved multiple championship time standards to give them a nice way to ease into competition. There are no additional fees for these meets. More details to come soon.
  • At the conclusion of the developmental meets series, we will be renting out Freedom Springs on the evening of Sunday June 25th along with the other 3 swim teams. This is open to ALL Gator swimmers and their immediate families to celebrate everyone’s hard work, get to know others on the team, and just have some fun! More details to come on this as well.
