Gators Rock Championship Meets To Close Out LCM Season

Our swimmers closed out the summer 2023 long course season by throwing down their best swims in the pool across a series of championship meets this past month. Its so impressive to see all the hard work from our athletes and coaches translate into great swims in the pool. Couple that with how they performed against the very best the state and country has to offer, our Gators should be very proud of their efforts and accomplishments this season. Highlights from the championship meets are below.

I also want to point out that in the last newsletter I missed 3 new Gator team records that were set in June. So I’d like to acknowledge the new records below. Congratulations Gators!

• Joe Sheets – LCM Boys Open 200 Butterfly
• Nick McCoy – LCM Boys 13-14 800 Freestyle
• Reagan Sullivan – LCM Girls 9-10 400 Freestyle

US Central Zone Championship

• Emmanuel Jackson qualified for 5 events in Boys 13-14 against the best in the country from the US Central Region. Great job EJ!

• Aberdeen Couturier – 21^st in Girls 11-12 50 Breast with LTB

  • 9^th in 100 Fly with a new US Zone Championship cut and setting a new Gator team record!
  • 9^th in 50 Free breaking his own Gator team record!
  • 20^th in 200 Free breaking his own Gator team record!
  • 22^nd in 100 Free breaking his own Gator team record!
  • 26^th in 100 Breast
  • 31^st in 200 IM setting a new Gator team record!
• Nick McCoy – 5 total swims in Boys 13-14 with 5 LTBs
  • 20^th in 1500 Free setting a new Gator team record!
  • 21^st in 800 Free breaking his own Gator team record!

• Aberdeen Couturier – 1^st in Girls 11-12 100 Breast with 2 LTBs and 3 podium finishes
• Bailey DeSantis – 18^th in Girls 10 & Under 100 Back with 4 LTBs
• Katia Loper – 11^th in Girls 13-14 100 Back with 2 LTBs
• Jacob McCoy – 13^th in Boys 10 & Under 200 Free with 1 LTB
• Nick McCoy – 1^st in Boys 13-14 400 IM with 5 LTBs, 6 podium finishes, and a new State Championship cut in the 400 IM!
• Lila Phillips – 5^th in Girls 11-12 200 Free with 6 LTBs and 4 podium finishes
• Lucas Phillips – 5^th in Boys 10 & Under 200 IM with 5 LTBs and 2 podium finishes
• Reagan Sullivan – Three 1^st place finishes in Girls 10 & Under 50, 100, 200 Free with 5 LTBs, 5 podium finishes, and 2 new State Championship cuts in the 100 and 200 Free!
• Elyza Tschopp – Four 1^st place finishes in Girls 11-12 100, 200 Free, 200 IM, and 50 Back, with 6 LTBs, 5 podium finishes, and new State Championship cuts in the 100, 200 Free and 200 IM!
• Emma Tschopp – 51^st in Girls 13-14 50 Free with 2 LTBs
• Ben Wehnert – 12^th in Boys Open 200 Breast with 2 LTBs
• Zac Wehnert – 19^th in Boys 13-14 100 Free with 1 LTB

Great job to all our athletes and coaches through the entire month and all season long!

A few important notes and reminders:

• Our end of long course season party is Thursday August 24^th from 6-8pm at the Franklin Family Aquatic Center. More specific details to come soon.
• Gators will again be hosting the Kids Tri for Kids Triathlon Sunday August 27 at Freedom Springs. It’s a fun event where kids get to swim, bike, and run at Freedom Springs. This is a fundraising opportunity for Gators. We strongly encourage all athletes 14 and under to compete. We also require many volunteers to pull off the event and Gator parents and older athletes are needed to help. Details will be coming soon for volunteer spots. • Registration for next season will begin Sep 4 with practices beginning Sep 11. Email with full details was sent out earlier this week. More reminders will come at the end of the month.
