LCM Season Kicks Off With Big Swims At FRST

The Gators kicked off the summer long course season with an impressive showing at the FRST Early Summer Slam at Franklin HS last weekend. It was our first taste of an Olympic sized 50m long course pool of the season, but our athletes showed no fear and displayed what their early season hard work has already accomplished. We’ve already seen several new championship cut times and everyone is just starting to get into swimming shape so that’s an awesome start! Its going to be a great summer season!  Highlights from the meet are below.

FRST Early Summer Slam

• Aberdeen Couturier – 6^th in Girls 13-14 100 Breast
• Bailey DeSantis – 4^th in Girls 10 & Under 50 Free with 7 Lifetime Best Swims(LTBs) and new Divisional Championship cuts in the 50 and 100 Breast!
• Bentlee Fernandez – 24^th in Boys 10 & Under 100 Free with 3 LTBs
• Emme Lewallen – 23^rd in Girls 13-14 100 Fly with 7 LTBs
• Ben McCoy – 27^th in Boys 11-12 50 Breast with 1 LTB
• Elizabeth McCoy – 16^th in Girls Open 50 Free
• Jacob McCoy – 5^th in Boys 10 & Under 100 Fly with 4 LTBs and new Divisional Championship cuts in 50, 200 Free, 100 Fly!

• Lucas Phillips – 16^th in Boys 11-12 50 Fly with 7 LTBs and new Divisional Championship cuts in 50, 100 Free, 100 Back, and 50 Fly!

• Paisley Salamh – 7^th in Girls 11-12 400 Free with 9 LTBs and a new Divisional Championship cut in the 200 Free!
• Hadleigh Sawyer – 31^st in Girls 11-12 200 Free with 8 LTBs
• Kaylin Slagle – 51^st in Girls 10 & Under 100 Free with 2 LTBs
• Reagan Sullivan – 14^th in Girls 11-12 200 Free with 4 LTBs
• Maren Thompson – 50^th in Girls 10 & Under 50 Back with 2 LTBs
• Elyza Tschopp – 4^th in Girls 13-14 100 Fly with 5 LTBs and a new State Championship cut in the 100 Free!

A few important notes and reminders

• The Leadership Council is just getting started this summer, helping our athletes of all ages with important skills surrounding leadership, mental health, sportsmanship, and goal setting. Please talk to Coach Abbi or Coach Sarah for details on this exciting new program!
• We will be continuing our Developmental Meet Series for the 3^rd summer. This is a series of dual meets aimed at allowing swimmers without Championship time standards to compete in a less intimidating format. This has been a huge success the past few years as our newest athletes have gotten to learn what a swim meet is like in a smaller, fun atmosphere. There is no charge for these meets. Details will be posted shortly about meet dates so stay tuned.
• For those with State Championship cuts, please note that the schedule and/or locations have changed for both Senior and Age Group State this summer due to some other downtown Indy events. Both will take place July 11-14, with swimming taking place at both Center Grove HS and the IU Natatorium in Indy. Please check out the IN Swimming Technical Page for details.
