Gators Chomp The Competition At DON and PCA

Gator President

The Gators had a pair of season firsts with our first outdoor meet at Donner followed by our first developmental dual meet. Donner saw us survive a near monsoon Saturday, but our kids fought through it and performed admirably well considering the conditions. We even had a new team record in the 11-12 200 Fly by Lila Phillips! Then our young developmental swimmers took center stage at Plainfield and showed how far they’ve been coming with their skills in a fun filled meet! It was a great start to our developmental dual meet series that we hope to continue next week when the Gators host a home meet. Highlights from the meets are below.

A few important notes and reminders

  • Home Developmental Meet Thursday June 13 - We will be hosting a home developmental dual meet Thursday June 13th. So, I have 2 big asks here. First, we want to pack this meet with Gator swimmers. We would like every 14 & under Gator swimmer to sign up for events where they do not have a championship cut. This would be most every developmental green and black swimmer, and many junior green swimmers. There is not developmental practice that night so please sign up! There is no charge for these meets. And for those senior/junior black swimmers who cannot swim in the meet, please come support and cheer on your younger teammates! Second, we must have parent volunteers to run the meet. If you will be at the meet anyway to watch your kid, we need you to volunteer to help. All the jobs are simple, and we will show you how to do it. And you can still watch the entirety of the meet, so you won’t miss your kids swimming. Volunteer Here for these meet positions.
  • Leadership Council - This exciting program is continuing into the summer, helping our athletes of all ages with important skills surrounding leadership, mental health, sportsmanship, and goal setting. Please talk to Coach Abbi or Coach Sarah for details on this exciting new program!
  • Team Pool Party – Gators have rented out the Franklin Family Aquatic Center for a team pool party Friday August 16 from 6-8pm. This will be a great opportunity for our entire team and their families to get together, celebrate the team’s success, and just have fun! More details to come as we get closer but mark your calendars to ensure you can join us.
