Nuhfer Takes Silver In Paris, Gators Kick Off Season At WSC

Welcome to the Greenwood Gators 2024/2025 short course yards season! Its been fantastic seeing the pool bustling again after a nice break. Even though we’ve been out of the water for a bit, its still been an eventful past month. We hosted our annual triathlon, competed in our first meet of the season, and even had a former swimmer bring home a medal from the Paris Paralympics! Highlights from these events are below.

Kids Tri For Kids Triathlon - We had many Gators either competing or volunteering at this fun event that is also a fundraiser for our team. Great job to all the competitors and thanks so much to all our volunteers!

Grace Nuhfer takes silver in Paris – Former Gator, Woodmen and current University of Akron swimmer Grace Nuhfer was selected to represent team USA in Paris for the 2024 Paralympic Games. If this wasn’t exciting enough, Grace made waves in the pool bringing home a silver medal in the 100m Butterfly! She also competed in 3 other events, with 6^th, 8^th, 8^th place finishes! Grace is back in Akron to finish up her senior year, but we plan to host some events with her later in the season to help celebrate her amazing achievement! Congratulations Grace!

A few important notes and reminders

• New Parent Info - We have lots of new families this season. We held a new parent meeting last week with lots of info for new families. If you missed this meeting please see Greenwood Gators Swimming 101 New Parent Meeting for details. If you have any question at all don’t hesitate to reach out.
• Gator Spiritwear – New Gator spiritwear is now available from our friends at Sports Plus. Let you or your kids show their Gator spirit with some new shirts, sweatshirts, pants, hats, crocs, etc! The store is open until Oct 7. Click Gator Spiritwear Here and use code 4FAHZ.
• All Parent Meeting - Our annual State of the Gators meeting will be next week, Tuesday October 8 @ 6pm in the GHS cafeteria. We ask that all parents attend to hear updates from the past year, financial and tax updates, vote in board of director elections, and ask any questions to your club leadership. Hope to see you there!
• Elsmore Swim Shop Coming To Greenwood - Elsmore swim shop will be at the Greenwood HS pool October 9 from 5:30-7:30pm. This is a great chance to try on suits, fins, and purchase other swim equipment.
• Field Trip Save the Date – We are planning a team field trip to watch Coach Joe Sheets swim at a Bethel University meet at the Elkhart Health and Aquatics Center at 1pm Saturday Nov 8. We're also looking at doing a possible 1 day meet in Goshen or practice time up north somewhere that morning if possible, which could turn this into an overnight Friday Nov 8 to Saturday Nov 9 trip. More detalis to come soon but save the date for this fun event!
