Matt Dorsch Head Coach

Coach Matt has been the Head Coach of Irish Aquatics since June of 2012. In his time with the team, the club has grown from under 100 swimmers to over 300. In addition to program growth, the swimmers have seen a great deal of success in the pool, including over 200 individual and relay state titles won, a team state title in 2021 at the Senior State Championships, multiple national and junior national qualifiers, a 2022 Jr Pan Pacific Championship participant for Team USA, and a USA Swimming National Junior Team member. The team was awarded Bronze Medal status in the USA Swimming Club Excellence Program in 2020 and 2021 and Silver Medal status in 2022 and 2023.

Before coming to Irish Aquatics, Coach Matt was in the Cleveland, Ohio area where he served as the head coach for the Twinsburg site of University Swim Club, assistant coach for the Twinsburg High School swim team and assistant coach for John Carroll University. In South Bend, he also served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Notre Dame Men's Swim Team from 2013-2016.  

A native of Detroit, MI, Coach Matt attended John Carroll University from 2001-2005. While at JCU, Coach Matt was a 4 year varsity swimmer for the Blue Streaks, winning 9 individual conference titles, earning 27 All-Conference honors, and qualifying for he 2004 NCAA DIII Championships in the 200 Freestyle. Coach Matt Graduated with a BS in Physics in 2005 and then went on to earn an MS in Medical Physics from Cleveland State University in 2008, and then a secondary teaching certificate from CSU in 2009. Coach Matt taught physics at Walsh Jesuit High School in Cuyahoga Falls, OH from 2009-2012. Coach Matt is also a licensed real estate agent. He currently lives in Granger with his wife, Deb, and his three children, Elle, Hadley, and Cade. 

Brian Heintzberger Assistant Coach, Billing Coordinator

Coach Brian started with Irish Aquatics in May of 2014.  He began his coaching career at Mishawaka High School in the fall of 1999, where he served as assistant coach to the boys and girls teams, and became head coach of the boys team in the fall of 2011.  He remained in that position until spring of 2016.  During this time he had many regional and state qualifiers.  He currently works with the 9-10, and senior age groups with Irish Aquatics.  Brian has also assisted with many of the state and national swimmers for Irish Aquatics.  He is also an ASCA Level II coach.

 

Brian graduated from IUSB with a degree in Elementarty Education in December of 2000.  He lives in Osceola with his wife Lisa and their two dogs, while their son Trevor is in college at Purdue Northwest.  When Brian is not at swimming he enjoys hanging out with family and relaxing at the lake on his boat.

 

Dennis Molnar Assistant Coach

Coach Dennis began his coaching career in 2001 as an Assistant coach for Penn Aquatics. He later became Head Coach for Pro Swim Team in 2011. During his time with Penn and Pro he had many successes including Divisional, Age Group State, Zone and Quad Champions, and many qualifiers for all levels of USA swimming.  He began coaching with Irish Aquatics in spring of 2020.  Through out his time with Irish Aquatics he has assisted with all groups the team has to offer.  He curently works with the 11-14: 2 group.  

Coach Dennis swam for the South Bend YMCA until age ten when he found a love for baseball.  He attended High school at St. Joe South Bend where he played football and baseball.  He attended Holy Cross Junior College, and transfered to Franklin College to play baseball.  He is now a superindenant for Herman and Getz.  

Danny Lucero-Dixon Assistant Coach

Coach Danny began swimming competitively at age seven for the Michiana Marlins and continued through his senior year at Riley High School. At Riley, Danny earned Academic All American and All American Honors, placed 11th at state in the 100 breaststroke, participated in 3rd and 4th place medley relays, and earned a state championship in the 200 freestyle relay in 2007.

Danny began coaching in 2008, and has coached with Irish Aquatics since the Fall of 2021. Danny graduated from the University of Notre Dame in December 2013 with an English major and Economics minor. He enjoys working with all ages and abilities. 

Jess Preston Assistant Coach

Coach Jess began coaching for Irish Aquatics in spring of 2020.  He previously coached the senior group for PRO Swim club.  He also is the head coach at Penn High School for the boys and girls teams.  He works with the senior group for Irish Aquatics.

Andrew Bartolini Assistant Coach
      
Coach Andrew has been coaching at Irish Aquatics since the Fall of 2021. At Irish Aquatics, Coach Andrew works with the 11-14: Level 2 group. In his career, he has coached multiple swimmers who have qualified for Age Group Central Zone Championships, Mid-State Championships, Age Group State Championships, Central Zone Open Water Championships and Divisional Championships. Coach Andrew is an ASCA Level 2 certified coach and also was a volunteer swim coach at the University of Notre Dame for two seasons. Coach Andrew first began coaching with the Michiana Stars in 2015. 
     
Andrew swam competitively in Rhode Island through high school at Bishop Hendricken. At Hendricken, Andrew earned four varsity letters and helped the team win the RI State Championships all four years. In addition to recording two top-eight performances at the RI High School State Championships his senior year, Andrew was awarded the Outstanding Senior Swimmer, the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association of America, Inc. (NISCA) Award Winner for Sportsmanship, the NISCA Coach’s Award and the Bishop Hendricken High School Lou D’Abrosca Unsung Hero Award over his four years.  Andrew was one of the team captains his senior year.
     
Andrew is currently coordinates and teaches in the First-Year Engineering Program at the University of Notre Dame. He completed his PhD in civil engineering at the University of Notre Dame in 2019.
Mary Dansky Assistant Coach

Coach Mary began coaching with Irish Aquatics in the spring of 2020.  She previously coached for PRO Swim club as an assistant coach in the Senior group.  Coach Mary is a 5th grade teacher in the PHM district, and also an assistant swim coach for Penn High School swimmig for the boys and girls teams.  She works with the senior group for Irish Aquatics.

Heather Dixon Assistant Coach

Coach Heather Dixon comes from a family of swimmers and divers and began swimming competitively at the age of eleven for the Elkhart YMCA. She caught onto the sport quickly, continuing her swimming career through Penn Aquatics Club, along with the Penn High School Girls' Varsity Team. After graduating high school, she attended college at the Indiana University of South Bend where she majored in Psychology and minored in Fine Arts with a concentration in Studio Drawing. During her college years she coached for both the Christiana Creek Country Club and Morris Park Country Club MAPSC teams, along with assisting the Elkhart Central Blazers High School swim team for the 2010-2011 season.

Coach Heather began coaching with the Michiana STARS Swim Team in the fall of 2014, where she met her (now) husband Coach Danny Lucero-Dixon. After tying the knot in the fall of 2016, Coaches Danny and Heather assumed the responsibility of ownership of the Michiana STARS Swim Team after its founders moved out of state. Over the lst five years Coach Danny has led the STARS, serving as the CEO and lead of the senior programs, while Coach Heather served as the COO and lead of the 8 & Under program. In the fall of 2021 Danny and Heather made the difficult, yet highly rewarding decision to merge with Irish Aquatics where they both continue to coach the sport that they love. Coach Heather still serves as the lead for the 8 & Unders, while Coach Danny continues to work with the seniors as well as various age groups as needed.

In addition to coaching for Irish Aquatics, Coaches Heather and Danny also coach both the Boys' and Girls' Mishawaka High School Swim teams as well as the Swanson Sharks MAPSC team over the summers.  Coach Heather currently serves as the President of the MAPSC Board as of January 2021, and manages the Swanson Highlands Pool during the summer season.  Additionally, she runs the Swanson summer swimming lessons program and also offers private swimming instruction as her availability allows.

Coach Heather currently works for the PHM School Corporation at Prairie Vista Elementary where she is privileged to watch some of her swimmers' success in academia throughout the day before swim practice!  First and foremost, her love of coaching directly stems from working with such incredible kids.  It is important to her that young swimmers not only learn the skills that they need in order to succeed in the world of swimming, but that they learn these skills with the proper technique and intent, while also accumulating life-long skills to enhance their success as people.

 

Natasha Guenther Assistant Coach

Natasha began coaching with Irish Aquatics in the fall of 2021.  Over the past 24 years she has taught swim lessons and coached for Knolwood Country Club for 3 years, and the South Bend YMCA For ten years. Natasha began her swimming in a suburb of Minneapolis and swam club there for 13 years.  After high school she swam at the University of Illinois and competed in the US Olympic trials in the summer of 2000 in the 200 butterfly.  Here at Irish Aquatics she coaches the 11-14:2 age group.  Along with her husband they have 5 girls ranging in age from 8 to 17.  Three of which swim for Irish Aquatics.

Lisa Heintzberger Assistant Coach

Coach Lisa has been active with Irish Aquatics since 2013 when her son joined the team.  She joined the coaching staff in the Fall of 2016 as after a short break from on deck coaching, she has returned to lead the 11-14:Technique group. Prior to coaching she swam for her local high school.  After school Lisa continued to be involved with swimming in various ways through volunteering.  Lisa is a graduate of Indiana University of South Bend with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administraion.  

Lisa enjoys watching her young swimmers develop their strokes, personalities and knowledge of the sport throughout the season.  She gets to know each swimmer on a personal level and enjoys the stories they tell.  Her goals are for her swimmers to learn and develop their swimming technique, build their self confidence and have fun.  Her motto with kids is to "Have Fun." Lisa is married to her high school sweetheart Coach Brian.  

Leslie VanParys Assistant Coach

Coach Leslie began coaching with Irish Aquatics in Fall of 2021. She is also a swim instructor at The Salvation Army Kroc Center and has been there since fall of 2020. Previously Coach Leslie was a Coach and Swim Instructor at the Michiana YMCA for over 25 Years. She began swimming competitively at the YMCA in South Bend at the age of 10. She swam with this program through high School due to her school not having a swim Team . She did however compete in track a and cross country at St Joe High School and was one of the first few girls in the area to run Cross Country with the boys team. This opened the door for Girls Cross Country in the area. After high school she attended Ball State University where she swam with the Cardinals for her first year. Coach Leslie is married and has 2 sons. Both of her sons swam at Penn HIgh School . Her oldest went on to compete at Carthage college for all 4 years . Her youngest is a Senior at Purdue University and was the President of the Purdue swim Club and now is treasurer For the ASHE Club (American Society of Healthcare Engineers). When not on the pool deck Coach Leslie enjoys sewing , crafting and reading. She also loves spending time with husband Terry and their 2 rescue dogs Hope and Roxie

Eric Arseneau Assistant Coach

Coach Eric began his swimming career later in life as a freshman at Mishawaka High School, He caught on quickly and had great success with team records, and two years MVP.  He was a captain of the swim team for three years.  Since graduating high school he as coached the Mishawaka High school team as an assitant for two seasons.  He is currently doing his undergrad at IUSB.

He began coaching for Irish Aquatics in the fall of 2021 after coaching for the Michiana Stars swim team.  He currently coaches the 8 & Under groups and looks forward to seeing the progress of each of his swimmers at swim meets.  He still enjoys swimming in his spare time and loves the butterfly.

Mia Guerra Assistant Coach

Coach Mia began her coaching career in the summer of 2020 with Michiana Stars.  She worked with the 8 and under group.  She began working with Irish Aquatics in the fall of 2021 with the 8 and under group.  Coach Mia had a late start to her swimming career beginning as a sophomore at Mishawaka High School.  She immediately fell in love with the sport and is very excited to continue to teach swimming.

Mia currently attends IUSB and is waiting to apply to the dental hygiene program. At IUSB she is serving as a senator for the student government association and is the secretary for the feminish student union.  In her free time, you may find her walking with her dog Auggie!
