Sharks unveil new programming!

It’s with great excitement that we’re announcing a slightly restructured training group flow chart to our programming. This restructure is setup for productive learning, growth, and inclusion for several years, and will feel very similar for most of our current athletes. It’s our intent to streamline on-boarding to the team and add a few metrics to give each group proper identity. Our goals in this process are listed below. 

 

  1. Keep similar ages and grades together, narrowing the age range between groups for more similar learning styles, even though ability ranges may be greater than usual (just possibly more intervals w/in the same practice).  

  1. Reduce the number of training groups for each age to enter – Example: if you’re 12, there’s 1 of 2 groups on the competitive track.  

  1. Add a non-competitive component for those who choose not to attend meets or are not quite ready for the competitive team.  

  1. Embrace, immerse, and incorporate shark species into group names – it's who we are! 

 

         

A few things to note -  

 

  1. We will have next year’s group placements out in the next couple of weeks. Athletes will be in their current group or feel like they’re moving up a group. No one should feel like they’re moving down. There may be some outliers in that don’t quite fit the new parameters and metrics for each group, and that’s OK with the transition. Things will iron out over the course of the next year.  

  1. This new structure will start at the beginning of next season – Aug 14, 2023. Registrations, fee schedules, and other useful information for next year will be out in a few weeks.  

  1. Staffing assignments and practice times for 2023-24 are still being finalized.
