Sharks Welcome Coach Michael Wolf to Coaching Staff!
The Elmwood Sharks are happy to announce Michael Wolf as a new assistant coach. Michael comes to the Sharks and returns to the coaching side after many years in the healthcare, medical education, and corporate fitness worlds. Michael will be assisting Blue/Tigers/Makos groups and taking the lead on Hammerheads after a couple of weeks.
Michael is a former assistant swimming coach and head water polo coach at the University of Texas at Austin, and a former head water polo coach at Penn State University. Michael is currently a registered USA Swimming official and served as the chief starter for the 1978 USA vs USSR dual meet in Austin, TX, where he certified 21 world record swims.
Michael earned his Ph.D. in Motor Control from the University of Texas, a masters in sport psychology from Penn State, and a double bachelor’s degree from Queens College of CUNY in psychology and exercise science. Michael has authored 6 consumer fitness books and authored over 100 articles published in consumer health, fitness, and wellness magazines. Michael has worked with the LIVESTRONG foundation for 24 years, served 5 years on the board of the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and was involved in launching grassroots fundraising for the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
Michael currently runs his own consulting business, Michael D Wolf, Ph.D. Consulting LLC, and lives in New Orleans with his wife.
